All in the span of the year. Prepare for a wall of text where in the end, you'll just tell me to stop bitching.

I've been renting this place for a few years. The original landlord sold to my current one a few years ago. We had a great relationship (current landlord). Let me stay at my rental rate from previous owner, fine with month to month, etc. Dude and his wife are extremely wealthy, but this was their only investment property and wanted to take care of it/tenanta. He would bring me a bottle of wine every Christmas and respond to the numerous issues that came up.

He kind of stopped doing that this last year. Hell, I had a bird get in the house through the attic and he didn't come over to address it for a day. I still have a hole in my ceiling from one of the two roof leaks and it hasn't been fixed in 3 years.

Last summer, he texted me to tell me he was raising my rent by 15% because of market conditions. Plans to raise it another 12% this summer.

Texted me today to say that he rented the first floor of the two family home to the first guy he saw for $1200 and that he had 20 contacts in the first 24 hours. I saw the listing and it was actually cheaper than $1200 and it didn't have 20 contacts in 24 hours. He also listed it for 1000sq feet it when it is only 600. I don't get it...why lie about all of that? To soften the blow of his greedy rent hikes?

First world problems, but man, being a landlord changes people for the worst.

When it impacts the livelihood of others, yes. Selling a collectible/video game on Ebay for more than you bought it for? By all means.
