We had some sleet, freezing rain and little bit of snow here in southwest Missouri. My kids school has been closed all week. No power outages or anything. I didn't even go to work today because my job wanted me to work a store about 60 miles away and the roads hadn't been cleared enough for me to be comfortable to drive on.

How's everyone else doing? Staying safe? I understand some of you are without power and trying to conserve phone battery. Just a quick two second message will be sufficient and you can fill us in when you can charge.

Power's out. In Austin Texas. Getting dark out. Annoyed.

I've just been chilling in my apartment since Sunday. Left to get groceries today, and the roads are fine now, but the parking lot was still pretty icy.

Feels like every school in the area except Springfield has called off for tomorrow.

Nixa hasn't yet. This morning I checked the MoDOT site and hwy 60 between republic and monett were listed as partially covered still. I'd have accepted mostly clear. My car handles like shit on snow and ice so I decided to call in and nope back to bed

For those that don't have one, look into buying a portable car jump-starter sometime this year. They often have usb ports/12v outlets and lights, really useful for power outages.

I saw on the news all the random sliding around and smoking telephone poles from blown transformers. At least you still got power fam. Stay warm, stay safe!

I noticed Springfield's called off now.

Gotta say, I was not expecting this when it started. Hell, I didn't even notice it had been doing anything until a couple hours in when I started hearing about crashes on the interstate.

I didn't notice either considering I switched over to Netflix after a bit.

I got super lucky, my power's still on but when I walked my dog at 8:30 I realized my whole area is out south of my house but us and like 10 other houses at the north end of my street still have it. Not sure how things are wired to make that possible. We heard the booms of arcing lines around 6:30 but when I opened the door to see what was going on, the other neighbors that came out still had power so I didn't notice.

Lots and lots of tree damage to deal with tomorrow though. Even now I'm sitting here listing to limbs coming down.

Geez man. Last time I remember trees cracking that bad was back around...96? 97? I lived out in the country at the time with woods all around me so cracking trees was pretty common

So not too terrible. We had an above freezing day with sun so there's been some considerable melting today.

Power's still out. My phone only has wifi, using my stepdad's phone as a hotspot. Kind of annoying how I kept power during the last major snowstorms, but this little pussy-ass frozen rain knocked me out. Texas winter seriously sucks ass.

Doesn't take much ice to fuck up trees and power lines. Lesson power companies can't seem to learn even in places where ice storms have happened.

That's about half of the number I saw on the news the other day. They were saying 300,000+.

Power briefly came back around 8:07-ish, now it's back again. Hopefully here to stay.

Looking like power's back for good. Brushed my teeth, shaved, and enjoyed a good morning shower to celebrate. Got most of the dishes that piled up in the dishwasher, my laundry in the washer, and sipped on a tasty mug of caramel cappuccino. How's y'all's morning going? Everyone managed to stay warm? I mostly just lay in bed, sulked/napped, reread some of The Golden Compass while there was light, and only played a little bit of Aria of Sorrow on my DS cause I was worried about blowing my load on handheld gaming batteries too soon. Now I feel silly for not spending more time on my handhelds, heh.

Always a good sign to see ice melting off of trees! Kinda wish I took some pictures though, it was real pretty.
