I grew up as an atheist, as parents aren't religious. Just never really had much influence on me, so my few encounters with it all came across as a little nonsensical and bigoted.

When I stopped being forced to go to church. I realized how illogical it is and how there is no more proof than any other current or former religion that claimed to be the truth.

Around 11-12 I started getting introduced to mythology and other religions. My mind went to "wait if these people believe something entirely different, who's to say that we are right?" I started asking adults, they didn't want to talk about it or gave answers that didn't satisfy me at all. Had babby's first existential crisis about there being no afterlife.

Came out on the other side of it basically agnostic. Eventually realized I was doing that for reasons that weren't anything except me still being scared of oblivion, and allowed myself to admit I was an atheist by the time I was in college

After a certain point it just got too tiring to use apologia to explain why a lot of the stuff I disagree with isnt actually bullshit and horrible.

Still too conditioned to abandon my faith completely but Ive long since given up the belief that, if god does exist, that the bible/Christian dogma is a reliable source.

Ironically it's my admiration for a lot of Jesus's teachings that lead to the breakdown of my faith. >___>

I dont think there was a particular point that I became an atheist. Even as a young child I remember thinking that the whole thing was completely unbelievable. I wasnt brought up in a particularly religious household though.

Probably in grade 12 when I took philosophy. It was more of a passive process than a conscious deduction.

I believed fewer and fewer parts over the years, but the realization that Christianity's primary source is filled with contradictions and completely unreliable started really getting me thinking about how ridiculous it is. It continued from there to getting into the logic of it and thinking critically about that and other religions.

I wasn't raised religious

I went to vacation bible school a couple years with a friend and thought it was weird and culty even when I was 12. couple that with this other kid trying to get me to accept Jesus and be saved 5 minutes after meeting him and I was like no thanks.

the games and parties were fun though >_>

I think you can answer all the scary questions Religion is supposed to answer and be a good person and at the same time distance yourself from those obnoxious faith reachers and magical thinkers WITHOUT having a faith or going to church.

I went from Atheist to Agnostic

After obsessively reading philosophy at around 20, I arrived at one application of the Principle of Sufficient Reason, that the Universe must have a 'reason' for its existence, otherwise nothing would exist at all. I think most of our conceptions of 'god' are wayward in that whatever such an entity could be, it would be very unlikely to have human characteristics; a human way of thinking; or a consciousness we can even comprehend. Our pursuits like metaphysics and religion are just theorising based on potentialities. The real question is etymological: can we or will we ever be able to perceive some higher lifeform if such a entity even exists at all? I don't mind the Atheist approach either, as long they remain open the possibility of some knew knowledge which could one day transform our understanding of why we exist.

I've always been an atheist, I didn't attend church as a kid, aside from a handful of times going to a friend's youth group. My exposure to religion teachings was mostly through cartoons. I had a veggie tales phase thanks to the youth group.

I was never religious, but I guess I must have assumed God existed because that's just how everyone else thought. It was like believing in God is just the default stance you take, but the reality is that it's the opposite.
