Having dinner with friends at their house tonight. They want to do carryout and asked if I could pick it up.

You can order online and pay right then. So I suggested they buy theirs, I buy mine, and then bam...pick up both orders.

They in turn said I should just tell them what I want and then to Venmo them money. They think I am socially unaware to suggest we just buy our own orders.

The fuck?

Yeah, if I'm playing host and and inviting friends over for dinner, that's my responsibility as you are my invited guest. You can bring wine or dessert but everything with the dinner itself should be my thing. The guest should just show up and enjoy. It's not very classy of your friends.

Its your choice whether to be resentful towards them for something your imagination made up.

It could be that they thought it would be easier and more time efficient if the entire order was ready when you arrived to pick up. You knowmore time with you.

No I'm not even discussing from that perspective. I'm happy to grab the food.

But what I don't understand is how us placing separate orders is more difficult than me telling you exactly what I want and then having to make sure I pay you. When we can literally just make our order with any modifications and pay the restaurant directly.

It's weird that your mind would go to this place on a topic like this. But you do you.

And in terms of the time - we are talking a matter of 1-5 minute difference if that?

I mean, for timing it makes a lot of sense to just place one big order, so that one order isn't just sitting around getting cold while you waiting around for the other one.
