Shes turning 7 soon, asked if she could get her ears pierced.

We went through the risks with her (pain, potential infection, etc) and she seemed to understand, but still not sure if its something for when shes older.

Also not sure if we say yes, we should go for somewhere that uses needle or gun. Needles much more hygienic and heals faster, but gun is much quicker.

I remember this girl getting her baby's ears pierced and posted it on facebook. It was only a few months old. I was like how is that even legal? Won't the infant pick at it?

Both my wife and I were like no fucking way about getting my daughters ears pierced as a baby.

If the kid's old enough to consent and take care of it, that should be fine. It's not like a tattoo that she may regret later in life.

Yeah the ears can always close and heal up she decides she doesn't like it.

If you and the mother are OK with it, you shouldn't need anyone else's opinions or judgments. Go with your gut on how to go about it, and if you guys have it done, make sure she is taking proper care of them so they don't get infected.

You can always get her clip ons, or fake stuff from Claire's.

We suggested this, but shes fairly adamant about being able to wear real earrings.

My niece didn't get hers pierced until she was about 10, but I've known plenty of girls who had theirs pierced in elementary school.

I had both my girls ears pierced with a needle. Around here the places that do it that wont do it if the kid is less than 7. They want the kid old enough to be able to express they are okay with the piercing.

I went with the needle because they actually have to licensed. And they went through training. Using a gun to pierce ears only requires watching a video. Thats why kids can end up with lopsided placement of the holes with the gun. Also there is damage to the earlobe tissue with the gun, not so with the needle. Needle is also more sanitary.

Hope he never goes to prison where they will make him take all that out. Though I have seen inmates homemake their own plugs or whatever they are called

I think it'll be fine, I took my niece to get hers done and she was a bit younger than that (yes I had parent permission and it was a birthday present for her), I had warned her it would hurt at first but she was still a bit shocked when they did it and cried, they gave her a lollipop after

I understand this, I didn't get mine done until I was around 12 and I was always jealous of friends who could wear real earrings, also clip ons tend to get lost easily and you're always aware of the sensation of them being on, with proper earrings you don't feel them at all

She is old enough and I definitely recommend going to a proper place that uses a needle. All my daughters are pierced.
