I own this series on like 5 different sets, but never got around to watching it. So far its kinda a trip.

Like, a weird dark comedy.

Episode 2 has Haruhi force some guy to grope a girl so she can take pics to extort a PC out of him. When the rest of his friends say that they will verify that he did nothing and was being blackmailed, Haruhi says she will report them for gang raping her. In those words. All while silly music is playing in the background.

I was expecting a little more of a light hearted comedy. Not a rape extortion angle <_<

I actually liked the show over a decade ago but I can't imagine what it would be like now to watch

Everyone always says that it is a "milestone" series and a must watch.

I have a lot more to go so we will see.

So far it has hit a lot of the tropes we know and love.

It's supposed to be light hearted but way over the edge. Like uh, maybe some things haven't aged well at all, but that's kinda part of the craziness of Haruhi.

Later you'll realize that Haruhi always gets what she wants

Lol I remember this meme too.

Honestly I thought the show was way cleverer than it turned out to be. Thought it was meant to be a metaphor for Haruhi's depression and loneliness and statement on Japanese youth feeling this way in an ever demanding world, but nope its just silly jokes and occasional fanservice and jokes about fanservice. Not that there's nothing wrong with that

Sorry to ruin everyone's fun, but seriously don't watch the endless 8.

Watch like the first one and the last of the 8. Maybe an additional episode if you really want to suffer.

You will thank me afterwards.

But do watch The disappearance of haruhi after you done with the series.

I recommend #1, 7, and 8.

But in truth you really only need to watch 8.

I watched all of them and regret it.
