Sarbakaf Mohmand, a commander for the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack on Twitter. The main spokesman for the militant group was not immediately available for comment.

Youd think even within the vicinity of a Mosque would be the last place an Islamic extremist would think to blow up/attack.

At least 59 people have been killed by a bomb that apparently targeted policemen praying in a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan.

The mosque is within the tightly-guarded police headquarters area.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said "terrorists want to create fear by targeting those who perform the duty of defending Pakistan".

No group has said it carried out the attack, but it has been linked to the Pakistan Taliban.

The group ended a ceasefire in November, and violence has been on the rise since.

Peshawar police chief Muhammad Ijaz Khan told local media that between 300 and 400 police officers were in the area at the time.

The mosque is in one of the most tightly controlled areas of the city, which includes police headquarters and intelligence and counter-terrorism bureaus.

Even before Musk, Twitter has historically been absolutely awful at banning accounts that primarily post in other languages. I can only assume both their AI tools and their human reviewers are just grossly underqualified to evaluate foreign language posts.

in the mind of the attacker, it might be the "wrong" kind of mosque.
fundamentalists tend to view different views on their own religion in a worse light than they view even other religions

like they preached putting the left shoe on first instead of the right one or something
