EXP yield is a separate (invisible) stat that determines how much EXP the Pokemon gives, and it's not necessarily tied to HP or really, anything else (besides stuff like Megas and Legendaries and Mega Legendaries giving out a lot due to being tough dudes, while crap like Magikarp give little).
