Been using the tier 2 weapons/armor and the 1st tier bombs the whole game and I'm pretty sure I'm at the final boss... so I've been spending a few hours grinding through all the recipes to make the final items before I attempt it

I can't even tell what any of the boss fights were supposed to be other than the dragon, that was the only semi-hard fight because everything else, besides the optional elemental ladies, seemed like a normal enemy up to this point

Oh well. Still a great game

I didn't have any trouble until the final boss and then I had to actually grind

Atelier is definitely not on the hard side of things unless there is an extreme time limit + you aren't using a guide, yeah. Ryza not having a time limit (well, beyond the mini-quest stuffs) means that there isn't a whole lot of difficulty to be had.

So yeah, lean into being OP and have fun exploding nonsense with bombs. Just wait until you get to Sophie 2 and you get some new passives that they very clearly did not come anywhere close to testing. :V

I switch occasionally. Equipping this one gave the scene about Klaudia and Ryza talking about wearing identical clothes and wanting to hold hands.

Sophie was my first Atelier so I'm looking forward to that one

I remember Despair mode from Sophie being pretty good for difficulty but maybe that was just because I was a noob at crafting

Think of Atelier as an easier version of Monster Hunter: your first one will beat you up, but once you get the system down every other game ends up feeling very easy.

And ye, Sophie 2 is sweet as a fan of Sophie. They just absolutely did not balance things at all. They added a bunch of "super passives" that give positively nutty stats and the like, and when you get three of them together that boost the same effect you end up with a positively goofy level of power. Especially once you get to the set of "final" recipes that scale a bit too well when you stack a bunch of +100%s on them.

Would you recommend Sophie 2 over Ryza as someone who has only played Mysterious trilogy? I'm waiting for Ryza 3 since I love when Atelier does open world games.

Also Nelke sequel when

Not exactly, no. While I feel like you would enjoy it more than Ryza due to the continuation on what you already knew I feel that there is a lot of value in doing things in release order + I suspect you would end up liking Ryza enough that missing it would be a bit silly. Atelier has some differences based on the trilogy, yes, but it's not like they are radically different games so odds are if you like one you would like all of the ones that came after it. In addition if you plan on doing Ryza 3 then it'd be kind of silly to skip any of the others as they are all going to end up connected in the end narratively and gameplay-wise.

Id personally almost any other Atelier over Ryza, but if youre planning on playing Ryza 3 anyway then you should play the Ryzas.
