A game on the GoT world would be weird and there's not enough mainstream interest in sandersons work to be picked up, they can't even get a TV series together for his stuff.

HP already has a huge franchise, movies, theme parks, merchandise, spin off series. Of course it has big AAA appeal.

Now if only Nintendo would give us that pokemon MMO we all want.

I've heard good things about the one created by the company behind The Walking Dead games, though.

GoT is less high fantasy and more political intrigue, the magic is almost incidental to the drama rather than the source of it.

So im not sure what kind of game it could be.

It was in development, and I remember it even being on an E3 schedule. But we never saw anything of it, and now it's dead.

Probably a good thing though. Sanderson is a bigger name now and is very protective over his property. He's always in talks of getting his stuff adapted, but won't agree to anything he isn't confident in.

There would have to be a limit right? Double gold like Miles had would be a bit OP in game, or support powers of slowing/speeding up time in a bubble. Hell balancing would be a nightmare, though a single player game would it matter too much.

I know it isn't outright terrible, as he includes them in his books and always show empathy, and has stated empathy in general in interviews and such. However, I think he also views it as a sin. It sounds like he goes out of his way to not allow his personal beliefs to impact his writing or how he treats others. Whether or not that is considered commendable likely differs from person to person.

Edit: to be fair, he thinks I live in sin as well, with premarital sex and alcohol

He writes them well in his book, as actual people who deserve to live how they are and calls characters out who treat them otherwise.

His atheist characters are treated very well as well. Both are pretty surprising from a religious person, let alone a Mormon. Whatever his own views are, they don't impact his writing of them.

Not even close. George ruined a ton of goodwill with the TV show (people can blame D&D all they want and rightfully so, l however, he still signed off on it at the end of the day knowing he wasn't going to finish the books and allowed his work to be adapted while it was incomplete) and constantly delaying Winds

The Stormlight Archive has gay, asexual, atheist, and whatever else kind of characters in it. They're all treated very respectfully because the people in stormlight don't have those sort of social issues. Their big thing is eye color, religion, and nationality.

Mistborn would be really easy to turn into an open city traversal game.

creativerealms posted... I am a bit worried to know about Sanderson's opinion on the LGBTQ+ community. I know he's a Mormon so I am not expecting the best.

He has in the past (like more than a decade ago) actually come out and said he could not on religious grounds accept gay marriage. Generally when people hate Sanderson and want to go after him over that, they will point to that. Over the years that seems to have changed course, and while he's still Mormon and not going out and doing a bunch of fundraising for queer causes or anything, he clearly appears to have walked back on that thanks to lgbt people in his life talking to him about it. He made a big apology for that original statement, and started putting gay characters in his stories who are generally represented very well and not in a "i guess I have to" or baity sort of way, which is something I get pretty annoyed by very easily.

Basically, he had a stupid opinion in the past thanks to religious upbringing, and has begun to learn and better himself. I think that's about all you can ask of most people.

Compounding obviously would be broken and not allowed. Could balance the stronger metals by having their metal reserves drain faster.

Pick Steel and could could zip around the city like Spider-Man. Pick pewter and you get more health and are a melee character that can throw heavy objects. Pick Tin and you focus more on stealth and overhearing conversations, a more speech based gameplay style. Bendalloy to make short lasting speed bubbles.

Blaming George is fine and correct but I wouldn't let DnD off the hook. HBO wanted more content, DnD didn't, and it showed. And in retrospect, even without book to adapt, the last seasons could have been better if some of that shit was written properly and had time to develop.
