They didn't reason themselves into their position in the first place. They believed the first brain dead thing they heard and can't stomach being wrong so they endlessly double down

It's also, in part for some, that they cannot believe that you can 'die'/heart stop for so long and still be normal, even though CPR was being administered nigh immediately. It doesn't track with the droplet of medical knowledge they think they have so it must mean everybody else is wrong.
