Lmao no it's not everyone says it's trash.

They derail their own plot lines, go nowhere with the good ideas and all form of chain of command is kind of broken down and people speak freely to their commanding officers all the time. Oh and they've got to have a good cry and talk about their feelings 24/7

two of them are excellent, a third is decent and keeps getting better, and the fourth is over in three months.

the kelvin movie is probably not ever going to actually happen, though.

edit: i keep forgetting Prodigy, even though i just binged it a couple weeks ago. that one was solid, too, though season 2 seems like it might be a lot different than season 1.

i dunno, it's possible. but when you announce the movie before talking to any of the actors i have to assume the rest of your claims are a lot of smoke and mirrors, too.

No, it's over. There's some shows that have the ST brand, but aren't really ST. Most of the modern shows seem to be written by people that hate Star Trek.

i've liked it all along, so take my opinion accordingly. but if you go into it wanting to hate it, you'll find plenty to justify that take. but if you give it a real chance, none of it is so bad to not be worth watching, and quite a few episodes are really good (and really good trek). also, a lot of people don't seem to make this connection, but with the shorter seasons, we're still only 55 episodes in. that's early season 3 of the 90s shows, pretty much where each of them really turned the corner from being hit and miss to being consistently good, with the occasional stinker.

Brave New Worlds is probably the best thing to come out of the franchise in over 20 years

my biggest problem with Picard, and Disco to a lesser extent, is that the episodes aren't episodes. they rely so much on telling the season long story that they forget that each episode needs to tell a complete story, too. instead, they keep writing 10 hour movies and cut them into pieces. that's not just a trek problem, though.

thankfully, SNW seems to have avoided that trap.

I really hate the trend. I think they're trying to cater to binge-watching by combining all of it into a single serialized narrative instead of episodic.

it was fine when they were willing to drop the entire season at once. then i can treat it like a movie. but the people in charge of bleeding their customers dry noticed that you need way more new content that way to keep people sub'd. so they went back to weekly releases so people stay sub'd all year for five or six shows of weekly episodes, instead of having to make a new show drop an entire season every few weeks.

but now, when it takes a week to see part 7 of 10 that does nothing but move pieces around for the climax... just complete garbage. eventually, they have to cater the scripts to the delivery method again, right. one way or the other, just make sure to maximize the entertainment value of your product, please.

No it's pretty much dead, the official stuff is unrecognizable from shows like TNG and the like. A good spiritual successor, however, is The Orville. Provided you don't mind fart jokes in your Star Trek (which I kinda do, tbh, I'm just so starved for new Star Trek that I put up with it).

I would honestly, honestly say that I think it's the best of the five currently airing shows.

In fact, I would go so far as to say it's my favourite Trek product IMO since DS9.

Picard is great. Give it a try honestly. Discovery is just terrible. To many redesigned races that look way worse and the fact that they soft rebooted the whole thing so it could tell a different story. Complete crap. Michelle paradise is the worst thing that could have happened to trek. She can't can't meet deadlines. She needs to go.
