Just started. Played a 9 hold and had a blast.

Bought some a set of Callaway from Costco. Been watching Rick Shiels on YouTube. Can't wait to go driving range and practice.

I used to play golf sometimes with my old neighbour.

I kinda sucked at it but always had a great time and got super fucking drunk. Although sometimes I made good shots. I've got a few birdies.

I played a 18 this summer and made the dumb decision to not wear a hat and ended up getting badly dehydrated in 35 degrees celcius heat.

The first time I was in Costco, and saw the Kirkland brand golf clubs, I literally laughed out loud. Is there anything they dont make?

I like to golf. I was on the high school team. I only play a handful of times per year nowadays its so damn expensive now. I used to play for $20 with a cart as a teen now its like $80 at least. Not very good at it still, I usually score in the mid 90s on an average day.

I've played 18 holes pretty much everyday since November 1st (except for a few weeks in January when I was traveling for the holidays or there is a complete downpour). The perks of living in North Carolina! Sometimes I'll play 36 if the course isn't busy lol. I have my own push cart and a membership to my local course so walking the course is 'free', I haven't ridden in a cart for the longest time because I'm cheap . 95% of the time I play alone and just put in headphones and smoke/vape MJ... I'm not super good yet but improving a lot. I see why old dudes get so heavily invested.

Sounds like a nice set up. I enjoyed playing alone for those reasons.

I used to play a bunch (few times a week) and in a league and had a respectable game. Then we had a baby and now I am lucky to play once a month.

Its a great game that would be enjoyed by more people if they just tried it.

According to The National Golf Foundation, 45% of golfers average over 100 strokes per round, so dont be so hard on yourself.

I believe those Kirkland clubs are rebranded Calloways or TaylorMade. They are probably the best deal for new clubs.

If you are enjoying it, take some instruction. It really does make a difference having a skilled golfer / teacher helping you with your swing and game.

When you go to the driving range, spend at least 50% of the time on your irons. A lot of new players go to the driving range and only use their driver or woods.

They probably are, Most Kirkland products are made by name brand manufacturers.

I bet a child would definitely hamper your ability to get out there. Quite a few guys bring their kids along with them on the cart so that might be an option for you to spend some quality time with them in the future lol. When I see em on the course the parent and the kid both look like they're having a good time while they're out there!

Lucky(?) for me I don't have any of those restrictions right now as I'm single. I've thought about trying to get a GF and while it would be nice, that's a lot of effort and I probably wouldn't be able to play nearly as much... I'm content with just golfing a ton for now lol.

Never been golfing. A guy in my office wanted to go golfing with me, but right when we were about to go, the Covid lockdowns started, and we just never revisited the idea.
