Scrounge for them if you need to! Taking it out would take away an important part of the gameplay loop goddammit

All they have to do is follow Elden Ring and make every weapon unique and different. The most fun I had out of Elden Ring was trying out the and experimenting with different weapons.

The combat loops in both games are very different. Weapons in BOTW are disposable while they're more like investments in Elden Ring.

I think the aim of TOTK would be to just focus on lowering juggling weapons so much. Remove durability for shields and bows. Let weapons of the same type absorb durability. That solves a lot of the issues.

this makes sense if theres a wide selection of weapons that are all of radically different functions and mechanics. it doesn't work in most games that have breakable weapons where there's maybe 4 or 5 different weapon subtypes and everything is just a variation of one of them with slightly different stats. Dead rising is about the only series i can think of where breakable weapons actually add to the game experience

I don't know, for me the most fun I had in Breath of the Wild is the fact that the world is just one giant sand box of experimenting what you can and can't do. That, to me, is the gameplay loop that Tears of the King should be going for, but I'm waiting for the sequel to eventually prove me wrong.

And even then, after you unlocked the chainsaws there was very little reason to use anything else.

Imagine you're a knight in the Middle Ages and you go buy a sword, which was a fortune in those days.

You take it out and use it, and after thirty strikes it breaks.

Idiotic.

My anxiety hates it because what if you need a specific weapon for a puzzle or whatever, you get all the way to the puzzle but then you dont have what you need because it broke? Thats just unnecessary padding.

The most important convenience perk aside from Silent Running, Light Travel, and Comprehension (and Pack Rat if in Hardcore mode).

BotW shouldve had a way to craft weapons, with the crafted versions having a much higher lifespan than the field-procured ones.

Wouldve felt more rewarding if a shrine, instead of rewarding you with a knights sword you know will be gone in half an hour, gave you a recipe for a knights sword that you craft as much as you needed.

For BotW, I'd keep the durability bit for shields and shields only. At worse, weapon durability primarily goes down for hitting shields, not slashing a literal goo enemy.

Having to constantly manually switch weapons is tedious and unfun, regardless of how many weapons the game supplies you with.

This was a big point against BotW for me.
