The end of s1 felt like we were going somewhere with the story, even with the dumb montage, only to have 3 episodes of no progress in the main story whatsoever. Just feels like everything is dragging.

Sucks cuz I liked s1 a lot. I don't read the manga so idk what to expect but I sure as shit didn't expect whatever this is lol

Yeah this is exactly what happens in the manga

Get used to farmland sega for a while. Things will pick up towards the end but it likely won't be until S3 that the story becomes interesting.

Although I fell out of the manga since then due to other things I may catch up someday.

It's extremely slow in the manga. It's never gonna pick up the pace and excitement like s1 did.

Wow that's extremely disappointing.

like the others have said, it's not that there's anything wrong with the pacing, it's just that the story moves into a different direction after the first season.

Yep, it's basically a genre swap. Not sure why they bothered making further seasons.

This topic is basically why I can't bring myself to watch the new season yet.

Yes, and they are extremely interesting. If you are at all interested in Vinland Saga from a writing perspective it is well worth the watch. If it's only value to you was seeing people stabbing each other than it is a pretty easy pass. Farmland Saga is about world building and character development, and while action does happen people are more into it for its writing.

I had my hunch after the first episode, but it's getting stronger that they are going to pull a SAO (completely change genres). I'm really hoping it reverts back.

If you're watching because of the stabby stabby and all the action, I'll say this is a good place to stop because while you do get it, it will never be as viscerale as the first season. And honestly? That's for the better because that was the whole point of the first arc of the story.

I don't really care about the action not being there but I do care that the main story is pretty much put on the backburner for this weird slave arc.

I mean main the story was about Thorfinn getting his revenge against Askeladd for killing his father. Now that revenge he's seeeking for is gone (basically taken away from him), he's basically lost because he lost his goal and reason for living. This arc explores exactly that. Granted, I full admit that it does take awhile before he comes up with a new goal, which is what I was hoping the anime would speed up, but the sound of it's staying true to the pacing of the manga lol.

You should think of the story like Berserk, except instead of having a main arc that's interrupted by a flashback, the story is sequenced chronologically. The stuff that happened pre-timeskip in Vinland Saga is essentially just like how the flashback in Berserk is treated for the story as a whole.

I dont mind watching Thorfinn play Harvest Moon, but I miss the edgy screaming OP
