Idk what agenda some people are trying to pull here, but it can't be sus that she transitioned while awaiting trial. Luckily or at least hopefully, the prison is equipped for rapists so this doesn't happen in prison.

I think what they meant by that was how in the article the rapist was a man when the crime occured and that the man then transitioned into a woman before trial. Those are the facts how I read it. I can see how the title can be confusing though.

Well I don't know why anyone on this board would suddenly care about whether or not rape is happening in prison. No one here has ever raised the problem of it happening in male prisons.

This seems nitpicky, but I don't know the legal definition of rape in the UK, so fair enough if a discrepency there contributed to the confusion.

According to the article, they transitioned while awaiting trial. I think they only transitioned in order to get reassignment in prison. Otherwise they would have done it before the trial. Timing is too coincidental.

Yeah, I'm getting the impression that this person isn't actually trans and simply declared themself so because they thought women's prison would be easier on them or they would get a lighter sentence.
