Personally I get to a critical mass where the diminishing returns on time become so ovewhelming that I just don't find it fun anymore.

Hades, for example. I beat dad like 20 or 30 times. I unlocked the garden. But I later discovered that if I just beat enough heat levels I would get some minor cutscenes with the gods and it just got too freakin' hard.

I try to do all side quests I can in most things but generally I wont do nitty gritty things like map completion bonuses or finding 20000 golden turds or whatever
