When I worked for restaurants we had large leather bags with a zipper that had a lock. That would then be placed in safety deposit box at the bank at the end of the week.

It would seem different businesses have different practices when it comes to depositing money.

the corporate clowns who determine they can save money on this location by employing fewer managers at longer hours, and ensure the employees are burnt out as fuck by insisting they can save money by setting labor hours at the location so stringent it never allows for more than the most bare bones skeleton crew.

I work food service.

The regional guy is pressuring managers to cut hours.

Dude almost every weekday shift we run a single Host/Carryout, 1 cook, maaaaaaybe a Kitchen prep and 3 servers. Less at night. You really can't go any lower.

Our POS and equipment is godawful too. I lose so much time to slow response time, glitches, crashes, redundant bloated menus, stupid ass U.I decisions etc.

I can't even label items out of stock for online orders.

The issue is corporate being shit at advertising/menu decisions and degrading service via failure to update/maintain systems and not investing enough in workers.

Bitch sales aren't down bevause we don't suggestive sell aggresively(the new entree sucks anyways) the "register closed" sign is "unwelcoming" or someone forgot their name tag. Sales are down because(aside from Covid and inflation) you are rigid incompetent fucks who make things harder then they need to be in so many ways and drive down morale.

If you cut kitchen staff and I am alone on seating/phone/takeout/register and I gotta go make all the salads, desserts and shit myself no fuckin shit I won't bother asking if poeple want to add desert. Maybe getting 50 cents more tip ain't worth getting bitched out or losing a whole tip from some impatient asshole.

Also why it pisses me off when people act indignant about the mere option to tip me even existing on the POS screen. Actually I do do more then bag the food. I spend most my shift manually portioning all the dressing and butter and shit because corporate is too cheap to do prepackaged. So much time to clean, or rest or whatever gone.

I also prep your salads and deserts so yes I do more then slap completed items it in a bag especially bevause you wierdos love bizzare requests and curbside and making things roundabout and trying to share your entire life story while I have a line.

I also just explicitly pointed out how you can skip the tip option because you inbred fuck nuts cannot figure out a basic 4 option POS menu. If I wanted to pressure that tip I wouldn't willingly do that I would hope you just indignantly click % and be done with it.

I am fine with not being tipped(within reason some people really push it with what they expect and don't tip. Yes if you order 1000$ of catering online with 2 hours notice for peak lunch time and expect me to load it in your car in heavy rain you better give a good % on that shit.)

Of all the things that ever happened, this is definitely one of them.

Guy is smart. 5000 dollars isnt that much money to risk getting caught for it.

Hes even smarter for recording the whole thing so now hes famous for being a good guy. So hes getting something out of it other than the crappy free mccy Ds and 200 bucks.

I wouldn't have recorded the video because im too shy. I would probably get offered the same crappy free mcdonalds for a month which i wouldnt go more than once a week anyway.

Regardless of how self-important he tried to be (people with true morals don't do it for clout by posting it online and saying "look at this good deed I did!") I would've at least done the same thing. I just wouldn't record it.

When I worked retail we had one of those leather bags, but it would only be used to take the money over to the bank. Daily deposits were bundled at the end of each night in clear deposit bags where you would write in the total deposit amount, bank account info, and sign your name. Those would get dropped into the safe, then throughout the month one of the employees that had access to the safe (i was one) would gather them up into the leather bag and take it to the bank.

I imagine at places like McDonalds or large retail stores, the first step happens multiple times a day as employees change shifts, so that there is a count for each employee. Since we were a small store, we did it once at night and dealt with discrepancies more statistically.

I found one of those leather zipper deposit bags for a local fast food place with $500 inside in the parking lot. I definitely returned it though, ethics aside, I work for the bank they did the transaction with.

If he can get $145 for this via GoFundMe... I'm very tempted to open a GoFundMe accountvand ask for $5,000 as a slush fund for my personal pleasure.

Can guarantee you that's not true depending on where that money actually came from and the circumstances of you just deciding to keep it.

Ignorance of the law doesn't grant you immunity from being charged and convicted. Especially if you aren't rich enough to fight the law.

Someone randomly giving you 5k doesn't mean you can lawfully keep it or that the law can't go after you and successfully convict you.

A good Samaritan has gone viral on TikTok after sharing his memorable experience at a McDonalds drive thru. Josiah Vargas claims he was picking up his breakfast order when he realized that the employee at the window had given him more than he ordered. I just went to McDonalds and they just handed me my Sausage McMuffin and this bag, he says in the video which has been watched more than 2 million times and received nearly 500,000 likes, revealing the contents to be several clear plastic bags stuffed with cash. While sitting in the parking lot outside of the McDonalds, Vargas estimated that he had accidentally been given $5,000. And now I have to return this because Im a good person, I guess, he said. Why would you guys do this to me? Do you know how bad I want this money? Why put me in this situation? Vargas discreetly recorded himself walking back into the restaurant and approaching the employees with the bag, jokingly asking if they were laundering money out of here. 1: If he kept or spent it, they would track him down. Corporate would watch every second of that days tapes to identify the bag, follow it's journey through the store, and when it goes out the window they just tag those plates. Dude would have been boned. Sadly, if the deposit is less than Mcdonalds called for (e.g: from a lazy supervisor or manager) they might question him first about it, too.

2: I guarantee that whatever manager was on the floor during this event is going to be fired regardless of him being a good samaritan. You can get fired for a hell of a lot less from these kinds of drone corporate food jobs that anybody can replace. At least, that'd be their mindset.

It was clearly a scam he started so people would donate to it.

Not that street smart, but know that money would be the sword of Damocles if he tried to keep it. He wanted to benefit from it anyway, so did what he felt was the next best thing.

Cynical, but there you go. Good people don't usually say they are a good person. It's the random acts of kindness you see walking the streets everyone takes for granted.
