How does a game developed by the guys who brought us Disney Infinite and literally nothing else in the past 10 years of note get as much hype as this

Also how did they get the contract

I like Disney Infinite. It was weird. It had tons of gameplay elements and gameplay styles all blended into an admittedly unattractive graphics style. You had free roaming gameplay, you had community built maps, you had structured missions. It was really a great game for kids. I used to play with my little brother and sister all the time, and having the ability to do so with characters I adored like Darth Vader or Spider-Man made it so much better.

IIRC The last console Harry Potter was the LEGO Duology.

Its been AGES since the past one, and even then the games post Prisoner of Azkaban wasnt... wasnt all that good.

The first 3 movies/books had good games, albeit with weird animations, but that hasnt been a thing in over a decade.

That alone is gonna make some people interested

...also obviously the real controversy is the PC Specs, when you consider a Switch release is also coming.

Like they are crazy high for a multiplatform title...

lmao, it's gonna run like hot garbage on the switch. I'll be amazed if it's even playable.

There is the risk of it being a stream only game, which would be BS

...personally im more worried developers might be going back to the good old strategy of making a dumbed down version of the game for the handheld system.

God i hated that shit...

I was honestly too put off by Disney Infinitys style (seriously, if they had made the characters look like how they actually look in their movies a la Kingdom Hearts, I probably wouldve been all over that) to ever play it, but I was always under the impression that it was a fun game if nothing else.

People deserve it for playing the handheld versions

The real question is why are they adding in cosmetic pre-order bonuses for a single player game, when you know damn well someone will create a mod that adds it into the game for everyone else within a week of release?

Best part of this is even on consoles it STILL doesn't make sense

Crazy shit has happened. Asobo, who made A Plague Tale and the recent Microsoft Flight Sim, made nothing but shovelware for like 20 years up to when A Plague Tale: Innocence came out. Now they get GOTY nominations.

It was a rip off of Skylanders.

Just about every studio you like had its start in making shovelware before they hit their big break.

My favorite example is pre-TES Bethesda being a movie game studio

Love it or hate it, it was one of the most popular things in any form of media, ever. It also came out when loads of the people who use this website were in the key target demographic. Its not that surprising.

While this is accurate, I feel it should be noted that even when doing Terminator games Bethesda put out some great work, and Future Shock is considered to be fantastic

Double Helix who made trash movie tie-in games made the excellent Killer Instinct, for example.

Its not hard to look at any of the footage and not see that it looks like a really well made, polished game.

I hope it delivers but anyone saying it looks mid - bad is out of their damn minds and just wishing the game to fail.

Conceptually, but the gamplay was better. Especially the creation stuff.
