if you like that 70s show you'll like it. The comedy is the same pretty much.

Hated him at first but he grew on me

Weird how most assumed a girl. I only saw like 2 minutes of the show and immediately thought of the dude, but then again they're all annoying especially the over-the-top "bro" dudes with nickelodeon level over acting (dat mean it worse than Disney level over acting)

this, I think everyone forgets how awkward the acting was in the first season of That 70s Show. This is maybe just a tad worse but they all got better by the end of the season least

I can't speak for the 70s, but I think the reason a 90s show doesn't work (besides the obvious) is that we already had a ton of movies and shows parodying and displaying said 90s culture, since it was our most self-indulgent decade yet (up until the 21st century and social ramping that up to a thousand)

It was the birth of movies like Kevin Smith featuring people literally just talking about other shows and movies and we ate that shit up

As a 90s kid I really enjoyed that 70s show but I tried to watch it again as an adult and it was hard to do. It wasn't good. I might yet still try that 90s show if only for the nostalgia factor.

Why does every gay character have to be this catty, snarky quip machine all the time? Why can't they just be...I 'unno...a regular person who happens to be gay?

So here's a plot line that I'd kind of like to see if this show gets picked up for a second season, going to spoiler it because it does contain stuff from season 1

Ozzie was using Kitty as part of his multi-step plan to build up the courage to come out to his parents. In season 2 (or maybe later) he finally gets to that point, but they don't take it well. Ozzie ends up depressed and leans on Leia, Kitty, and the rest of the group for emotional support, but Red (who doesn't know) just gets frustrated and annoyed by his continued presence around the house, eventually snapping and ordering him to get out. After seeing Ozzie break down and cry due to not wanting to return home, and finally learning about what's going on, Red's "dad mode" switches on and he heads over to Ozzie's house to put his foot in some asses, and invites Ozzie to move in to the basement.

It would really highlight how LGBT people, especially kids, weren't widely accepted by their families in the 90s, an unfortunate truth that a lot of shows and movies set in that decade tend to gloss over in favor of the colors and music of the decade. It would also help show a lot of development for both Ozzie and Red, and mirror the episode in That 70's Show where he orders Hyde to move in due to his own parents abandoning him.

To be fair, Jay is pretty much a Kelso in name only. He doesn't really act anything like his father except for being a womanizer, and is already shown to be a lot smarter than him.

red doesnt actually need development on LGBT issues
in that 70s show he briefly had a gay couple as neighbors and was a little uncomfortable at first but learned to accept them as they were and befriend them
until he learned they were fans of the wrong football team then he kicked them out of his house

Thats why max from happy endings was one of the best characters on one of the best shows of all time, and no one watched it or appreciated it

I forgot that That 90s Show existed and thought TC was complaining about some kind of sterotypical Asian child that was a frequent trope in 90s cartoons or something.

No, Buddy. Buddy was an explicitly gay character. Fenton was highly implied to be gay but I don't think they ever outright said it.
