Terrible attitudes, terrible mindset, terrible way of treating other people, but at the end of the day they would sing the songs of gospel passionately, believe all the words of the bible, and goto Church every Sunday. You would see this the most often from elderly people. In my own experience over the years, black elderly women. They would treat you ok at first, and if something doesn't go their way, if you disagree with them about something, and so on, they turn into Dr. Jekyll. It caught me off guard, and a loss for words at times. It was quite disappointing, and heartbreaking at times, but also frustrating. I get why more, and more people nowadays are losing religion.

its human nature. Its not really Christianity, its the fact that it is the dominant religion.

if the church of the roaring mouse were the most dominant religion all these people you mention would join said faith.

people having been using religion as a vehicle for their bad nature for ages

Because some focus on the fact that God destroyed Sodom and ignore when Jesus loved everyone.

They also kinda beg for that stuff to come as soon as possible since they think they're one of the chosen.

Yeah most people raised that way use their beliefs as justification to what they dislike

People just believe what they the choose too but the constant hypocrisy of certain Christians and indoctrination or judgement they use against anyone who isn't that is sus asf

Not all rectangles are squares...

As a religious man myself, it is pretty annoying when people try to use religion as their excuse for racism and bigotry.

Some people think Jesus or God only cares about rich, white Americans for some reason smh.

It's when the church itself indulges or validates exceptionalism, "traditional values" and all the mid 20th century propaganda the government used to otherize people. They even liked it so much they spread that shit around Africa on mission trips.

I dunno. Most religious people I've met are chill. The most I've ever gotten from them was delegating any judgment or wishful punishment to the discretion of their deity. (See: "God doesn't approve.", "You'll burn in hell for your beliefs." etc.)

But they're small time compared to others.
The only legitimately hateful, intolerant group I've ever met were, hilariously enough, the far left or "woke left".
More often than not, they argue from emotion rather than logic.
They will raise their voice and get aggressive if you corner their values or point out the flaws in it. Wanna see something hilarious? Try pointing out that the gender pay gap doesn't exist and has been debunked many times, so they're wasting their time since no one can fix an issue that doesn't exist; try pointing out how the majority of domestic violence issues come from lesbian couples
If you disagree with them, they will try to ruin your livelihood, social circles, and future prospects because you don't agree with them. (Cancel culture, boycotts that always fail, etc.)

"When you cut out a man's tongue, you're not proving that he's a liar. You're telling the world that you're afraid of what he has to say."

Sure, they'll mask it as virtue. Sure, they'll act like they're tolerant.
But they're bitter, hateful people who just look for the next thing to hate. Worse, they actually act on it, against anyone who disagrees.
Sure, there's exceptions. But man the far left has some absolute nutcases where it's clear as day they don't care about people and are just pretending because they want to hate something.

At least with religious people, they seem like they can be swayed in a lot of cases because there are so few who have their entire religion as a part of who they are as a whole, especially nowadays with religion serving more as life guidelines rather than a militant doctrine to follow.
The far left, well... that IS their personality. Attack their views, you attack them in their eyes.
Get different religions in the same room, they'll find a way to get along.
Get different opinions in the same room with at least one being a member of the far left? Lmao good luck!

Christian's arent any different than any other folk.

It's always a bad look to think less of others for their religious beliefs.

Seems half these topics are of the idea that Christianity is only designed to accept perfect beings, and not better them.

It's how they were taught, along with the political takeover from the last 100 years.

It's also another layer of hierarchical thinking / capitalism where, instead of explaining the cause of people's problems, dance around them and then point to faith to endure the pain.

In the Bible, many characters are judged for their actions, so that indirectly leads people to judge others for their perceived actions, despite them not having the authority to do so under their own religion.

If we lived in a systemically more just society, religion probably would've followed suit.

I feel like this is mostly an American thing to see it this way because of republicans trying to weaponize the religion. Honestly as a Christian progressive it kinda hurts to hear this, mostly due to republican grifters trying to use the religion to make it so much worse in the eyes of many people. >.>

It is not. Everywhere in the world religion is far and away one of the largest sources of misery, so this largely applies to every location where Christianity is the dominant religion.
