Of course the games did eventually turn out very good, but it took an agonizingly long time to get there for both MCC and Halo 5. Infinite would have been the same, but it looks like unfortunately it won't even be getting the chance. I do think Microsoft probably deserves a large share of the blame, but I don't think the franchise could have been rejuvenated under any developer. Halo had its time and that time is long over. But I feel like COD has mutated it and if its not that style then your stuck in the past. You gotta innovate which 343 never seemed to do. The longtime head of 343, Bonnie Ross, stepped down months ago I think. The Halo fanbase has never been a big fan of her. With Infinite specifically, I remember reading that contractors put a significant amount of work into the game. But they were of course only there temporarily, so things got messy once they left. Personally, I was satisfied with Halo ending at Reach. But I still enjoyed the series enough to continue on with 4, 5, and Infinite. I think all of 343's games were ultimately good, but they could have never compared to 1-3. I'm not sure if I'll get that rumored Battle Royale game they're doing because I'm not really interested in those.
