Fml and my poor spending habits. But at the same time Ive been wanting a nice wooden set for years so maybe itll be worth it?

But thats another issue. Theres hardly ever going to be a time where I have people over that are wanting to, or even know how to play chess. Its going to sit on my desk as a decoration piece essentially.

If I was gonna spend that sort of money on a chess set, I think I'd get a full marble one personally.

Cheaper board? Did you even read the description? That listing is for pieces only, no board.

King Staunton inverted wood pieces and the 17" ebony board can both be bought directly in the $50 range. The etsy resaler simply has both items for sale. The ebay scalper resold them for $200.

Ive had marble chess sets before and I hated them. The pieces are fragile and the aesthetic doesnt vibe with me. Then again, Im super picky with what kind of chess sets I like, which is why Ive held out on buying one for so long. For this one, I absolutely could not resist.

You got a link for that price? I have never seen Staunton sets that low.

I would advise canceling the order and getting the 21" ebony and maplewood model directly from worldwideimports. After acquiring their free wholesale membership and discount.

17" chessboards are even smaller than typical small 19" boards.

Official Chess boards are 21".

It's the exact same design and wood type amd brand. Just the official size instead of a shrunken board.

It's rather silly to buy a "miniature" board for aesthetics. Especially when it can be had for similar/less price.

152" of extra space will be gained which is 52.5% bigger.
