like, the returning actors bring a good sense of nostalgia, and the new actors aren't bad.

the humor is also pretty similar to the original series.

but I'm still on the first episode, so things might change.

Huh, really? I was gonna try it but expected it to be pretty shit. I'm a big fan of the original so I was gonna try it regardless. If it actually turns out to be decent i'll be pleasantly surprised. Lot of reviews are favorable so far also.

maybe it's because it's been a while, but it's nice seeing everyone together again.

Donna looks so different, everyone else looks about how Id expect them to look after 16 years

They did a great job casting Leia, she definitely looks like she could be Topher and Lauras daughter

Ive only seen one clip of the show and they make a pretty decent joke about Clerks

Just wondering if is more "Goldbergs, Seasons 1-5" that were more or less a love letter to the 80's, or is it "Goldbergs, Seasons 6-10" where it's a family sitcom that just happens to take place in the 80's?

My dads always saying how much he loved That 70s Show because he was a teen in the 70s in a small Midwestern town and felt like it portrayed a lot of that fairly accurately

I was 7 when the 90s ended so cant really say how accurate this is lol

i guess my opinion rubbed off from my own dad who hated the show for this exact reason he also was a teen in a small midwestern town in the 70s and thought it horribly misrepresented it haha

i do still like the show for the most part in spite of that though

Id be surprised, show didnt even get a full season and the characters never crossed over

Im actually enjoying it. The kids are starting to grow on me and Red+Kitty have always reminded me of my own parents so loving all their scenes too

The same allegations that got his character killed off on the ranch. Which that show really did come off as that 70's show if it was a modern show that took place on a farm instead. Hell even several 70's show actors appeared on it through it's run.

Reviews are surprisingly positive, will definitely give it a go.

Yeah I'm shocked at how much I'm enjoying this tbh

Hopefully it sticks the landing and isn't just a one-off, I wouldn't mind this becoming a regular series

Only watched 2 episodes so far, and I like it. Very good so far.

i'm halfway through it and it's honestly way better than i was expecting. definitely worth watching for any fans of that 70s show. if they do a season 2 we'll have to see if the new cast can stand on their own. i doubt a lot of the original cast would be in much more of it but who knows.

Starting it now, Eric and Donna's daughter legit feels like their kid, she has that dork persona like Eric big time.

It grew on me very fast, after the 2nd episode i'm in for the season. TC hit it on the head I think, it just feels like more 70s show in the 90s, and it's pretty good. First episode was a bit clumsy, but most pilots are.

Really hope this gets renewed, but wont be shocked if it doesnt. Netflix gonna Netflix.

what year is it? i love the original series, but they really hurt themselves setting the first season in 77.

I'm like 5 episodes in now
Red and Kitty do a lot of heavy lifting, but Eric's daughter is a pretty solid dork character. New Kelso also has had a few good moments. I have little attachment to the rest of the kids.

I'm leary of Andrea Anders who plays the neighbor though. She had a long history of being on cancelled shows in the 2000s. Don't hex this show like you did Better Off Ted!

It's not bad so far

Man it hits it's stride around episodes 4-5, it got real when they made their way to the hub.

Gonna finish this tonight at this rate, i've gotten a lot of laughs out of it, the writing is good.

thanks. that's probably safe. five or six seasons is a good run, and if it really takes off you can probably squeeze another couple in there without the actors looking too out of place.

Finished it.. liked the first two episodes, kinda loved it from 3 to the conclusion. I really want a new season, by the later episodes I felt like all the kids had their own identity, story and likability, except maybe Nikki.

It really does put a heavy focus on the kids, and Red and Kitty, a few characters come back for a few minutes, and the adults really are very small roles.

I think fans of the original and people on the fence will find enjoyment with it, I expected about a 4/10 show relying too heavily on the original cast, and it wound up being a solid 8, with my nostalgia probably firing that up a bit higher. It had some great moments along the way.
