Catboy has a history of going after people when he's drunk and then regretting it and apologizing and reaching out to make amends. Even if it's a cycle, I don't have any reason to believe it's not genuine. I knew he was going to regret it and I knew that if apologized and came to me to make it right, I would forgive him for it. I've said fucked up shit when drunk that I've regretted as well. Even if catboy's behavior followed a pattern, I completely respect that he still came to me to make it right instead of breaking the pattern and doubling down. That means more to me than history. The fact that Tails is mad about it shows that he pushed the narrative in the first place and was more to blame for what happened initially than catboy, and I feel for catboy having been used by Tails (and whoever else) to try and get to me like that. They got in his head and he did their dirty work. I'd been trying to warn him that that's how those people operate, and even if I couldn't convince him initially, I can certainly sympathize. I'm not the "I told you so" type. I just hope he has more of an understanding now of who Tails et al. actually are...
