It looks like a Dragon Quest knockoff, but I wonder if One Piece finally has a game that isn't a shovelware.

I want to try it but FIFA has my full attn right now with TOTY, I'll play dis and hogwarts legacy when da promo ends

I've played a bit of it... I'm enjoying it so far... It does feel like DQ but with One Piece stuff... Which isn't a bad thing at all...

Still fairly early so I don't have a lot of skills so battles can be a bit same-y at the moment...

for what it's worth it seems to be reviewing fairly well so they must of done something right

I read up that the battle system has each member fighting their own battle area and then joining others when they win theirs. That kinda sounds unique and different than DQ's battle system.

That's kind of what caught my attention. I always assume an anime based game is going to be shovelware unless it gets good word of mouth. And no, I don't mean it from the anime fans themselves because they would eat anything up. DBFZ is probably one of the few anime based game that got rave reviews that I know of. One Piece Odyssey is the getting average/above average reviews.

Yea, thats probably the biggest difference from something DQ... Also I guess the TP system, which is like MP but you get it back by just doing normal attacks...

Also some characters and attacks can hit enemies in other battle areas (Like most of Usopp's skills or Luffy's Gum-Gum Pistol) so you can help out teammates easier and free them up to move around...

That sounds cool so it will prevent you just mashing the A button in battles, but also sounds annoying if you want to blitz a battle.

A little of both actually... I fought a boss that turned into me just mashing A since I didn't have much else to do against it... But battles with multiple enemies split up are more fun and can be taken care fairly quickly of you have the TP since it seems like everybody gets a multi-target attack at some point...
