Let's discuss.

I've had cats over the years and my favorite was a male cat. Always hanging out with me until the die he died in my arms.

Most recent was two female cats and they're bat shit crazy. One even ran away because her nerves were so godamn shot even after I saved her life and took her home. The other I saved her life from the animal shelter and all she does is bitch and scratch.

Thoughts?

You're just sick no cat would stick their dick on you unless you made it. You should be closely watched.

In my experience they're bout the same in lovey-ness

Males do spray until fixed, and they may still do it a bit

It just really depends on the cat

I know you're wanting one, but consider getting two so they can do chill cat shit together when you ain't there or whatever

Cat sexism is certainly a new one.

All cats have different personalities and they're not really delineated by gender for the most part.

Male cats tend to be more affectionate but YOU HAVE to neuter them or they will spray everywhere. Femals cats tend to be more on the loner side and can be kinda bitchy but will still love you well. Both have their pros and cons

Not all male cats spray, none of the male cats I've had since I was 10 years old never sprayed.

My 9 month old kitty has not sprayed once since we've got him.

my current male cat follows me everywhere and is very affectionate. Likes to play and chase things while later in the day very chill. His behaviour is predictable.

When I have had female cats they seem higher IQ than males and also more moody like sometimes out hunting for days then others climbing up your leg .. then body .. to perch on your shoulder to try to rub up on your face.

Every cat has a different personality and some of them are crazy (just like humans).

It's legally required if you get a cat in my state from a shelter that they're neutered/spayed. And yah my previous two used to chase each other around and smash into shit in the middle of the night play fighting even though they weren't related. They just grew up together and collectively decided to piss me off for fun in the process.

All but two of my cats have been female. The girls were more laid back. The most affectionate was one of the girls followed by my current guy. I dont want to say that hes more intelligent than the others were, but hes always trying to figure things out so he seems that way. Hes also the weirdest. I cant say how the first guy would have turned since we unfortunately only had him a few weeks.

It sounds like you're conflating their learned behavior from before you rescued them, with being tied to their gender. You could have just as easily rescued male cats with issues like that.

I have three male cats. One is very affectionate and is always by you, one is a bit of a loner and a bit "special" and meows really weird, and the other, a stray I took in, is crazy, but in an amusing way. He runs everywhere, cooing randomly when he does it, runs into stuff, and has very bad agility/jumping skill compared to my other two and they seem to taunt him for his lack of ability

Overall, they get along fairly well and I wake up every morning with them in, or on my bed, with me. The stray runs out the door sometimes, but only if the weather is nice. If it's cold, he backs away from the door lol.

I got them both when they were just weeks old. I've had other female cats in the past that were NOT rescues that weren't assholes but just grumpy/loners. So no I don't conflate that at all.

All i'm saying here is in my experience I've had better luck with male cats. You connect the dots godamnit.

I've had one male cat (Charlie) and one female cat (Callie) during my life. Had the male for about... 2? Maybe 3? years before getting the female.

Charlie was grumpy. Not so grumpy that he'd lash out or anything, you could pet him and he wouldn't bite or paw at you, but he would act like "yeah, fuck that and fuck you". That said, he was never anything more than a perpetual old man... at least, to everyone besides the dog (Finn) we got about 6 years after getting him. He would always swipe at the dog just for going near him. It was funny as hell, actually, because Finn would always flinch from getting bopped on the snout... but he eventually realized it didn't actually hurt, because Charlie was declawed (before you people yell at me for that, remember that I was like... 3 when the family got him? I kind of had no say in it). From that day on, Finn no longer took any of Charlie's shit.

Callie, on the other hand, was the definition of a scaredy cat. Not sure why, I'm guessing she had some kind of trauma before we got her? I think she was about a year old when we adopted her. She would always hide from nearly everyone. It took some time for her to get used to us, and whenever we had guests, she was nowhere to be found. Beneath the bed in the master bedroom was her favorite place to chill. Oddly enough though, she was the opposite of Charlie in one specific way... she ADORED Finn. Whereas she's scamper away from anyone else, she'd actually go up to Finn and rub up against him. And, as excited of a puppy as Finn was (and frankly, still is even in his old age), he always knew to calm down around her. It was actually quite odd, considering the whole "cats and dogs not getting along" stereotype.

They're both gone now. We had to put down Callie back in... I think it was 2020? Due to health problems that came with old age. And Charlie was about a year before that for similar reasons. It was hard for me back then, especially losing them both pretty close to each other, but I think it was even worse for Finn. You could tell he was super depressed for a while, especially after Callie's passing.

Anyway, all that to say that it's probably not a matter of male vs female cats, but rather each cat has its own personality. Maybe you've just gotten lucky with male cats and unlucky with female ones, in terms of what you want in an animal companion. As for me, I considered both of my cats to be pretty freakin' awesome, and wouldn't trade the time I spent with them for anything.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make this post a super long wall of text. I guess the memories just started flooding back as I was typing all this up.

I've had five female cats, and they've all been friendly enough, but always on their own terms and they could be very skittish The two I have right now are particularly odd. The two male cats I had were the most affectionate animals I've ever seen. They were almost always with me, one of them would get really upset if I was gone too long, and you could just scoop them up at any time and pet them and they would melt in your arms. Not much of a sample size, and they all have different personalities, but I've found others people's male cats to be really friendly too.

Unironically this after growing up and always having male dogs in our house. I got tired of seeing pennis n testes over the years. So I deliberately got a female cat.

Als not sure how true it is but I heard that female cats are less likely to mark their territory compared to males
