Endgame brought such a level of finality to the universe that I have almost zero desire to watch any of the movies since.

Was gonna say this.

We're sort of in a new introductory phase where we're resetting the status quo going forward. It's very similiar to Phase 1. Everybody is kind of doing their own thing in their own pockets of the universe, and there hasn't been a major event yet to bring everybody together. And that's fair because they're still trying to build up Kang the way they did for Thanos.

People forget that Phase 1 and 2 were largely middle-of-the-road MCU films outside of like 4-5 movies.

Spiderman managed to coast on nostalgia and that was pretty awesome, but that's kind of blowing it's load there. Loki was legitimately pretty interesting though.

as someone who reads the comics, I find this hard to understand. There was nothing final about Endgame. Hell, one could argue the entire mcu up to Endgame is just a prologue, to set up the true universe where everyone is all teaming up now

In the comics, they have events like Endgame, like every year. Then it calms down, all the heroes go back to their own business, until the next major threat. Thanos is not the only mega villain out there, and the mcu still have barely scratched the surface of global threats or events from the comics that they can use.

Yeah they gotta rebuild and continue. It takes time but itll be worth it. mcu has laid the next movies out already and itll be fantastic by the end of another mcu journey.

Antman quantumania might kickoff the mcu blockbuster movies and the Avengers are returning soon after!

I think hype will rebuild once the trailer for Kang Dynasty drops.

Literally exactly what happened with Infinity War. Casual fans showed up out of nowhere as soon as that trailer dropped.

That's why comics aren't popular anymore.

If someone wants to tap out at endgame because they felt it was a good ending point, thats cool. It wrapped up an arc great

When people say mcu should have ended at mcu, thats dumb. They barely used a fraction of the material and marvel comics never began and ended with iron man and thanos

I've enjoyed most of it, especially the shows. I've been heaving into the comic book reading the last few years and burned through hundreds, so seeing some characters pop up here and there is always cool to see and having a general idea of a lot of the stories helps.

Biggest thing is the lack of any kind of glue connecting everything. You could feel things were leading towards something before, but so far the set up is pretty eh and requires keeping up with a bunch of TV shows not everyone is going to want to watch. I was kind of expecting Peter to be the connecting force, but they instead turned him into generic boring Spider-Man.

That sounds really cool, but the main problem is that the movies that came after Endgame aren't really good to begin with except for Spiderman.

Thats your opinion and youre entitled to it but the movies after endgame are no different in quality than the ones before it. If you compare them to infinity war and endgame than sure they are worse but if you compare them to the average of the mcu they are still there

Is thor 4 worse than dark world? Is dr strange 2 worse than doctor strange 1? Shang chi is probably better than most of the origin stories. Wakanda forever is better than most

It confirms future plans is my point. But they also confirmed it outside the movies, years ago. We already know the xmen are coming. We just don't know exactly when

In thor 4, Gorr should have attacked that God City. We could have gotten a good mass butchering scene. We only see him kill 1 god in the entire movie. In the comics, he wiped out entire pantheons. Alwo the comic story takes thousands of years. The movie is all set across like a couple days in modern times

In the comic, Gorr starts his mission in the ancient past, he is immortal after he gets that sword. Thor first encounters evidence of Gorr in the viking era on earth when a native American god washes up on a European shore, murdered

another scene they could have taken from the comic

Gorr uses blood from Time Gods, to go back to the dawn of the universe, where he finds one of the first gods to ever exist. A giant baby is sitting on a floating rock in space, making crude creatures out of mud. Gorr kills it. That would have looked cool in the movie

That's because it was a grand finale of sorts for people following since 2008, it was 11 years in the making and as such obviously they're gonna lose a good chunk of their prior auidence who dipped with that movie and have to build a new one. The same thing happened to Star Wars and in video game world, Kingdom Hearts and Guilty Gear, Sora's story goes on but everything involving the antagonist is over with, Sol's story is over and so for long time Guilty Gear fans there's no reason to care and soon anime wise, Ash, Pikachu, Team Rocket and all their companions will be gone and it'll be on Riko and her friends from now on. Or better yet a more common example, Beyblade and Yugioh, how many people continued to watch those shows after they stopped following Tyson and the bladebreakers and Yugi Muto and his friends?
