Tl;DR He defends Hogwarts Legacy and to a lesser extent Blizzards games by saying that not everyone who buys their games supports or agree with the shitty things their creators did and a majority of Twitter is cancelling and doxxing him over it. I ain't showing the latter obviously.

EDIT: he's not even being ratioed. the tweet has 1.3k responses to 33.8k likes. that's not even close to a cancellation. the most liked responses are in support.

this is not a cancellation. this is barely even an attack from a numbers perspective. someone with that many followers could tweet "i like dogs" and still be attacked.

I'm gonna be honest. I don't care about celebrity news, Twitter, or any of that shit. If I use social media it's something work related or to check on things that interest me.

If I didn't come here I would have absolutely no fucking idea about anything jk Rowling ever did in her life aside from the Harry Potter stuff.

I'm not buying Hogwarts legacy but that's because I never cared for Harry Potter in the first place. If I was going to, I would probably still do it because the unfortunate reality is that... Regardless of what you buy you're likely supporting some asshole somewhere.

This. Hell, I'd rather get called a slur than told by someone buying the game that they're an ally. You can lie to yourself if it helps you sleep at night but don't bs me. The bar isn't even "step in and help if one of us is getting attacked for being trans" it's "don't actively support an author or her work that is being used to actively attack us" and the bar is literally micrometers above the floor. Yet still so many self proclaimed allies are limboing underneath then insisting we're not even the victims here. Wanna guess how many anti trans bills have been submitted just since the year started?

I hope it sucks primarily because of how well it's doing with its pre-orders.

Most likely because Rowling will still get money from it.

I'll definitely get the game if it proves to be a good product. I can separate art from the artist. I certainly hope anyone posting on Elon Musk's Twitter Inc. realizes how dumb they sound to morally grandstand people over this while using that platform.

That is actually impossible because we don't actually know who Shakespeare was. It was not his real name. Also some theories say that William Shakespeare was multiple people all using the same fake name

The one thing I realized is that every marginalized community (of course) has issues they feel more strongly about than anyone else. There's some people right now who have no problem buying products from someone who's racist but draws the line with something like this. And that's fair, there's no way you could ever feel more strongly about an issue than the people it directly relates to.

I guess what I'm getting at is that people probably realize the gravity of something like transphobia because it directly affects them or someone close to them, but the issue of all the dirty shit that Musk is doing doesn't feel as urgent to them. Not to say they don't care. But it's not priority #1.

Nowadays you can not separate art from the artist. If you support anything Harry Potter in this day and age, you clearly support Rowlings beliefs, even at a subconscious level. According to the vast majority of social media sites.

You're simultaneously implying that buying the game is the smallest thing you can do to support trans people and the biggest way you can destroy them.
