For teachers, should this be a fireable offense?
Vote
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Abby_Zwerner We all know the story from having heard it so many times. There's not even a need to link to the news articles anymore; teachers get fired after being snitched on for modeling on OF all the time. As if going to a job where you're at risk of getting shot, and not getting paid enough to make ends meet wasn't enough, they're also forbidden from having a side gig by doing what's legal everywhere else because "morals." Does this seem fair to you? Getting paid $40,000/year for such a dangerous job wasn't bad enough, and they're also not allowed to hold a second job in order to pay the bills? --- http://i.imgur.com/5ldCA.gif http://i.imgur.com/tvXx8Bh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nAJVH.png https://i.imgur.com/H5jMv6k.jpg ... I would go with no, unless if they're taking pictures/videos in the schools where they teach. --- https://streamable.com/3ajdi3 ... Copied to Clipboard!

As long as its kept as an entirely separate enterprise, its fine. That said, my contract states that I have to get any other sources of revenue approved by my boss. Most side-hustles are off limits. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I don't think it's a fireable offense. But it's definitely not something I would ever recommend a teacher do. Once that information leaks, and believe me it will, your teaching career is fucking over. --- Rainbow Dashing: "it's just star wars" AutumnEspirit: *kissu* ... Copied to Clipboard!

And i'm sure they are willing to further compensate you for potential lost income yeah? /s I mean, they do pay incredibly well compared to the competition, so, kind of. meestermj posted... That's really fucked up, and I doubt I would sign that personally. Nah, it makes a lot of sense. The vast majority of what their teaching staff would attempt to do as a side hustle is tutoring. Thats bad for the school in a few ways. It hurts their image of only employing too quality teachers and also means that you may well be stopping potential customers from using the schools services. After all, why would you when you can just get tutored by one of the teachers who already works there? For what its worth, whenever Ive gone to them wanting to earn some money elsewhere, theyve been fine with it because Ive done it in a way that doesnt hurt the brand. ... Copied to Clipboard!

epik_fail1 posted... Should they be fired according to my personal moral standards? Youre right. I think the thing that really annoyed people about the whole moral standards thing for teachers in the UK though, was the number of education ministers (and prime ministers) who wouldnt actually be eligible to teach for these very reasons. ...
