Read the first four books in 6th and 7th grade (when I was stuck in Jackson, MS visiting my grandparents with nothing to do I just read the books over and over during the day and watched Toonami at night), went to the midnight releases for each of the last 3 books with friends in high school and college. Went to the midnight release of the last movie with friends in grad school. Took a picture at Platform 9 3/4ths when I was in London for a conference. My little sister bought me The Cursed Child book for my 29th birthday though I haven't even opened that book lol. Bought a Sirius Black wand from a vendor at MAGFest in 2019 If I see a Harry Potter marathon on TV I'll probably leave it playing in the background while either doing something else or maybe sit down to watch it. Backfired in 2020 during the height of the quarantine because there were Harry Potter marathons on TV at least once a month. Almost got to the point where I could lip sync the actors But yeah I preordered Hogwarts Legacy today and ended up spending an hour taking the Wizarding World quiz and reading up on my results on Reddit and Tumblr >_> --- Roll Tide & Go Irish ... Before JK Rowling went all Terfy, a huge fan. I got 3 of the 7 books the day they released (my family was coincidentally on vacation in England when the 3rd book released before it even came out in the US) and have read or listened to the audio books numerous times. I saw midnight showings of most of the movies with my friends from high school and college. The first conversation my now wife and I ever had was talking about the 7th book that had just released, and we have cosplayed as characters at conventions (not specifically Harry Potter conventions, we're not that crazy) before. My first time dressing as a woman in public, long before I realized I was trans, was borrowing one of my wife's Hermione costume for a witch themed party. My parent's took my wife and I on a vacation to New York to see the play (my mom was even more into Harry Potter than I was). So its a bit upsetting knowing that the person who created Harry Potter doesn't even want me to exist. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I've literally never read any Harry Potter book, and watched no movie. Nothing to do with Rowling, it just wasn't my thing. I read the books as they came out up until the fifth one. I really disliked the 4th book's transition in to teen angsty type stuff and it really turned me off. I've seen most of the movies except for Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. I have greened out during the rifftrax of Goblet like 3 times though lol Overall I would say I'm not a big fan. I think the main strength of Harry Potter is in the wonderous escapism of the setting of a wizard school for kids full of crazy shit, and I feel like the more rowling tried to elevate the stories, the more her writing unwraveled and the less likable her characters got. Even prior to the whole transphobia stuff I didn't like her because she's one of those people that swears up and down that she was inspired by nothing when you can pick out a ton of bits and pieces she was taking from other people like Robert Jordan. In the end, just because of the narrative failings, I usually end up having more fun with stuff inspired by HP but not actually in the setting. I really like Littlewitch Academia, and instead of Hogwarts Legacy I'm looking way more forward to Witchbrook which looks awesome https://www.witchbrook.com/ ... Copied to Clipboard!

I dont think that the books or the films are awful. The films are okay and the books are fairly good (apart from the first one. Ill never know why the series initially took off) but its definitely achieved far more than it ever deserved to.
