It's one of the rare game that often make the best game of all times lists that I have never played. What do you think?

Yeah. Sadly it will never be remastered like Max Payne 3 because Rockstar can't implement goddamn motherfucking MTXs in them...

I enjoyed rdr1 in 2010 more than rdr2 in 2018.

But rdr1 is dated now. So you might not like it after seeing rdr2

They both have their strengths and weakness's. RDR1 has a great story with an okay to great world. RDR2 has a good story, with a fantastic world.

I liked it better than 2, and it has probably one of the best DLC expansions ever with Undead Nightmare. It's likely in my top 10 all-time games list.

If you find the slower gameplay of RDR2 preferable, there is absolutely nothing RDR1 offers that RDR2 doesn't do 10x better and bigger.

RDR2s slow gameplay would be a problem for me if the game world wasn't so deep. But since it is, it helps you take everything in. Hell, if I made a game that deep, I wouldn't want people sprinting past all the depth either lol

Both games are absolutely wonderful. The writing and atmosphere are Rockstar's best.

I played both of them last year for the first time, back to back, starting with 2.

Red Dead 2 is an amazingly immersive game with an open world that has sooooo much shit to do in it that I never got bored with it. It's easily the best open world in any video game I've ever played. The story really resonated with me too, and I ended up hooked and putting in hundreds of hours.

The first game is weird to come back to after that because it feels closer to its GTA roots than the second game does. A lot of the writing and mission setups feel like they were taken straight out of that and just given a different setting, and the tone tends to be a lot more tongue in cheek and silly in a lot of places. The shooting was really really good, maybe even better than the second game, but the movement and especially horse controls I found to be a lot rougher.

Overall I think 2 is way more unmissable than 1 if for whatever reason you only want to play one of them. 1 is "gta with cowboys" and 2 is just straight up "cowboy simulator" and I found that way more interesting. but they are both absolutely worth experiencing if you have the time.

i'm curious as to why you decided to play 2 first instead of 1.

Last year I got the PS Plus games service thing and one of the big things they had on there was 2, and i grabbed it thinking it would maybe be fun to play around with for a little bit and ended up getting totally absorbed in it.

I had already had a copy of 1 from years ago because I got it cheap and ended up dropping it before even finishing the McFarlane ranch stuff at the beginning more because I was busy and had too many games than anything else. So once I was done with 2 I dug out my ps3 and went through it so I could see the end of the story.

I tried replaying 1 immediately after my first playthrough of 2 and I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment, although I'd still recommend playing both and just leading with 1.

I would love to play both on a switch sequel. RDR1 is far more unlikely though. Supposedly the source code can't be ported. It's not even on PS4/xbone

Played RDR2 a bit but couldn't get into it. Probably because I played the shit out of the online, so going from endgame horses and guns with tons of money to early game broke Arthur Morgan was just too much of a step down for me.

Great game. I however had the ending spoiled so that took away from the enjoyment of the plot.

Speaking as someone who played it just a few years ago, I wasn't exactly blown away by it. It was fun enough, but it has definitely aged.

And Undead Nightmare I just kind of didn't enjoy. The only way to play it, as far as I know, is with PSNow (or whatever they're calling it now). While the input lag didn't bother me, it means you can't downgrade the updates in any way. This was a problem because one of the updates fucked it up. One of the major activities is clearing out graveyards. It was a very common bug to have the zombies go invisible and not count towards the mission goal. Required a full restart. Very annoying.
