I wouldn't say it's the best FF, which IMO is FF VI, but FF XII TZA is pretty great for the most part despite the troubled development it had and shift in management later on and probably my second favorite.

Only significant issues are...

Fran and especially Penelo not being developed enough. Both are mainly just along for the ride to support their partners. Actually that's all Penelo is there for...

The story pacing and importance taking a dive later on during the long trek to Archades and while climbing Pharos.

The somewhat RNG Max HP and Max MP increases upon Level Up.

Most Technicks being hard to find for average players along with rarely being very useful for most of the early and mid game.

Espers benching two party members and not being able to Level Up and not being able to individually and learn new things with them.

The noticeable lack of mini games along with their lack of depth and quality.

Still, its the last great 3D FF game that has remnants of the traditional formula before the troubled "modern" FF era that began with FF XIII and is still on going.

That's mainly because it's based off of the IZJS version and they added some quality of life fixes to the game such as no spell queue.

what they failed to tell you is that Yiazmit could also be abused through the gambit system. If you had half a clue about general programming strategies you could essentially let the battle play itself while you slept. It's far less annoying than Pandemonium Warden or Absolute Virtue in Final Fantasy 11 who for a while were bugged so you couldn't beat them or it took 24 hours of active gameplay to beat them.

the name's easy to remember when you realized it was named after the original director, Yazunori Matsuda.

I think its a fun game but it loses interest so quick.

10-2 was the last FF I gave any shits about, because Job System.
12 ZJS tried, but failed.

It's all Bravely now.

My favourite FF tied with X.

The gameplay and environments are incredible.
