Yeah I think the Russo Bros are the only other ones that could potentially also make three but that's only if they get to do another Avengers movie and even then it's not a guarantee.

The nerd culture bubble that makes the memes seem to be only a niche part of the entire internet. I recently watched a podcast hosted by people outside of the usual nerd bubble (they'd be a part of the adventure lifestyle bubble) and I felt cultural shock that none of them knew what the heck dragonball z was except for one of them who brought up a reference about saiyans. Then they talk about attending music festivals hosted by musical artists that are often hated by nerd circles. I was like Okay this is not normal to me lol. . They then talk about playing the latest COD like it was a normal thing and It blew my mind

I wonder what their thoughts are on Avatar.
This particular group were ages 27 to around 33. This info is from their blog.. they were born and raised in the UK. The one who brought up the saiyans reference is a fan of the dragon quest games based on an older comment he made back in like 2008. Other than that the rest of the group id consider to be more reflective of the general populace opinions.

Having watched both avatar movies for the first time this week (1 is bad, 2 is good)

Avatar way of the water is a movie everyone will give a minimal thumbs up to. My parents will like it, kids in my family will like it. No one is walking out saying "best movie ever" or even "top 10 movie ever". Also its only worth a watch in theatres, it may not even be a mnimal good movie off the big screen.

Its fun, you watch once, you never talk about it again. Hell you may actually forget what happened. I cant remember the kids names. No one will pick jake sullivan is their best main character or evil colonel guy as their best villain. Hell you could even argue 2 is a remake of one "blue people=good, humans=bad"

I think marvel lives so rent free in some peoples heads that in a topic where no one mentioned marvel, it gets shots taken at it. I dont even think James Cameron made a better movie than the quarterly MCU movie Black Panther (black panther has better reviews), avatar just made more money, it is what it is

Before I sound too negative, I enjoyed avatar the way of the water. The visuals were awesome, action was awesome, the whaling aspect resonated with me. 8/10 movie

As someone who thinks 1 is a bad movie, 2 is worth a shot

By description it is the same. Great visuals, blue people=good, humans=bad, they have a big fight. Its done better in every way though

He quit his job as a truck driver to pursue filmmaking full time. He made a short indie film that didn't gain any traction other than Corman's attention really. Then he eventually worked as a art director for Battle Beyond the Stars, then he took over as director part way through Piranha II. Then Terminator. So some steps, but I mean the time from quitting his regular job to making The Terminator was 6 years. Absolutely bonkers shit.

Arnold Schwarzenegger almost turned down the role saying it was a bad idea to debute as a villain. Predator basically got made because Arnold wanted a protagonist role ASAP.

Turned out both movies were fucking awesome anyway.

Nerds on the internet have spent the last 5 years being dismissive about Avatar 2 and acting like it would be a massive flop because of the lack of cultural impact.

I think there is truth to the lack of cultural impact but thinking it would be a box office flop because of it was a mistake.

Its a theatre experience and only a theatre experience and there is nothing to talk aboht afterwards. "Hey visuals were nice" isnt much of a talking point
