They're such a horrifically dysfunctional company that I have no clue how they managed to pull that game off. And the battle system? Sublime.

I personally enjoy it, from what I've played, but trying not to spoil much, it's a remake and not a remake.

It's so much better than 15 it's almost kind of insulting that they even put FF15 out. If they actually were capable of this, why are all their other games so half-baked and shit?

Battle system feels clunky and never got better for me. Just a worse Kingdom Hearts.

It's nothing like Kingdom Hearts wtf. It's basically the ATB system from the 90s but with more direct control.

one thing I really like about the game is the art direction, and how you can have people like Cloud, dressed in totally out there costumes, and people dressed in more realistic stuff somehow all for together, without it feeling forced or unnatural.

Say what you want about it not having similar combat to the original, but I thought it was SE's best attempt at real time combat in a Final Fantasy game to date.

I've noticed that a lot of battle system mechanics were borrowed from Kingdom Heart that I consider the game to be essentially Kingdom Hearts without jumping. ( You attack some enemies in air automatically).

Love it along with the recent remaster of Crisis Core. It was definitely one of the few highlights of 2020. That's for sure.

XV was just shitting out a minimum viable product to recoup Versus XIII's lengthy production that didn't go anywhere

it probably won't come out until next year, at the earliest, since they wouldn't want to compete with FFXVI

Also, the PC port somehow manages to be the only Square-Enix PC port that doesn't suck

It's not just an extension of FF7, it also feels like an evolution of what they were trying to go for in FF15. It's like they finally perfected how to incorporate the ATB system with real-time combat.

Square knows that if they failed on 7R, nobody will buy from them again.
7 Remake is higher stake than a new FF game.

FF7 remake has my favorite battle system from a final fantasy game period. That hard play through was mad fun.

Gotta' love the chapter 17 barret and aerith vs arsenal barrier and double cast strats or that swordipede boss fight where you smack it back and forth between the two groups. Really hoping we get more of those party mix-up sections in part 2.

I am personally excited about the story changes because the ending of the original game was the biggest pile of shit I've ever seen in my life. It's basically mass effect 3 bad. If the changes mean we have a chance at getting a real proper ending to the game then I welcome them.

I agree, although some of the the story differences are a bit annoying, the game is phenomenal. Square Enix is finally back making good rpgs and they actually made an amazing remake.

I just wish they would come out faster. Supposedly, rebirth is already done and they're working 3 now, yet rebirth isn't releasing for at least 9 more months.

Yeah, youre right, its too slow and clunky and terrible feeling to be compared to KH. Dodging is a complete joke for example.

I mean, they fixed it in the Crisis Core remaster. Im slogging through the Remake for the visuals alone though. So I can then play more of Crisis Core with proper context.

It pretty fucked up to me. Over use of Sephiroth tarnished his mystery and the creepiness leading up to the Shinra building.

Also, there was this sense or urgency in that first 7-8 hours in midgar but instead they padded it out to a 30 hour game.

The normal dodge in Remake is not intended to have I frames, otherwise they'd have to design the game around it. It's a repositioning tool and to move out of highly telegraphed attacks.

Otherwise it's better to block since it's faster, it builds atb, and the damage it cut significantly.

I dunno. The battles were ok for me, and it had some really nice moments of nostalgia. I also liked the fleshing out of characters and of Midgar. But when the plot (and final battle) turned into that KH time paradox fan service chaos, it killed all excitement for me.

It is really good. Some parts feel too fanfic-y for me and the ending is stupid as shit, but most of the game was pretty damn good.

But it annoys me I will have to either get a PS5 or wait another 3+ years just to play part 2.
