I don't understand the people who can stand watching this current crop of awful late night hosts. Even Colbert is awful and a pale shadow of how funny he used to be.

I miss David Letterman and Connie O'Brien.

I miss Craig Ferguson.

Letterman, Conan and Ferguson were the best. I used to watch them nightly.

People that enjoy late night shows are beyond my imagination. I know they exist yet I cannot fathom their existence. Quite the quandary

idk they can be good but Fallon was never funny.

He wasnt funny on SNL, he wasnt funny making music, he wasnt funny making movies, and his late night show sucks.

I have such great memories watching Conan when I was a kid and in my teens. I regret not watching Ferguson more back then. Kimmel is currently the most watchable for me but I don't catch him often.

$80 million for 5 years seems a bit much.

I think it has to do with the fact that he has a much wider audience so he had to trim some of his edges. Its obvious he tries too hard to please the audience, compared to having his own show where he was just himself doing his thing. That same satire schtick from colbert report wouldn't work on mainstream prime time.

We honestly lived in the golden era of comedy with stewart and colbert. Glad to say I watched colbert report from the beginning to the end. It was peak in the middle but even that started to taper off towards the end.

Sadly he's legally banned from using his Colbert Report persona because Paramount owns that, or he would've originally brought that character over to CBS who clearly didn't get the memo on the situation when they offered him the job.

Late night comedy went woke and suffered as a result.

Gutfield is a rival? I dont find him funny but hes on a serious network. Fallon has never been funny either.

Yet Paramount owns both Comedy Central and CBS. They are part of the same corporation.

Ferguson is GOAT. Seth Myers is the only one who is actually funny now. Fallon has always been terrible. Even on SNL this dude was more famous for breaking in every sketch than being funny in any sketch.

Man, remember during the writers strike Conan, Colbert and Stewart just dicked around and had a fake beef that escalated into a 3 way fight between them? It was so stupid yet I couldn't stop watching. It's a pity how bad these shows have gotten, Noah is gone from the daily show and whoever they get next will somehow suck worse than he did. Colbert is nothing with his Colbeut persona that persona made his entire career now he's just the liberal guy who constantly takes shit about republicans it's like people forgot how to have fun and entertain towards the end of the Obama administration, that clip of Kimmel thinking he was about to get cancel culture'd speaks volumes of where we are as a society today.

Youd think someone would say you know this guy isnt even funny why are we paying him so much?

That was the best because they were the funniest people behind their shows. The writers striking was the best thing that could have happened, especially for Conan who had some awful writers.

Then it's a Comedy Central property matter, which makes the whole thing even less sensical. Either way he's told not to do it on broadcast for that reason and also people still watching late night shows in 2023 are too dumb to get satire anyway.

You can get a lot of high balls for 80 million dollars.

Meanwhile, Fallon has attracted 30 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, which shows snippets of the chatfests segments. But a tipster pointed out, That really doesnt drive up ad rates for the regular show and the network doesnt want The Tonight Show to exist just to feed YouTube.

NBC Execs are forgetting demographics are playing a large part here. How many Millennials, Gen Xers, and Zoomers watch The Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon? More people get their content from streaming and Youtube, not television. Meanwhile, I'd expect Fox's chief demographic to be still in line with the old standard boob tube content delivery services. Fallon's getting beaten by Colbert, but Colbert has far more charisma and seems to have leaned harder into the online eco system than NBC's execs have.

Trevor Noah was so boring on the Daily Show. I watched a bit of him last year and all the humor is so flat and forced. I legit do not understand how he's the host for so long. Jon Stewart was way funnier
