Current Events > Anyone get OCD anxiety/dwelling on death and intrusive thoughts during winter?

I have a history of seasonal affective disorder and normally deal with depression during the winter, but it's never hit me quite like this year. The past few weeks I've been getting lots of random anxiety attacks, intrusive thoughts about the concept of death and non-existence, questioning my faith, etc etc etc... Basically an existentialist crisis out of nowhere, which I've only ever experienced when I was really physically sick.

I started taking ashwagandha and bought one of those therapy lights, and not to jinx it, but after a few days of them, I feel like my mind is a little more calm and not obsessively returning to dark scary shit? But it could also be placebo effect, who knows. I'm actively looking for a therapist because at this point it's so bad that it's interfering with my daily life.

Anyway, anyone else experience this kind of shit during winter with SAD?

I welcome death. Its the horrible pain, and crippling possibilities that can proceed it that are scary.

not about death, but about being lonely and isolated and not having any friends anymore and never having been in a relationship

dunno what it is about the winter that makes everything like that ramp up, maybe the dreary weather and all the commercials for gifts you can buy for your significant other which just serve to hit it home that i don't have a significant other to buy gifts for

yeah i feel like i get more depressed over the winter. we both live in the state of NY, so the weather is notoriously bad. gray skies all the time, lots of snow. that will really get to you.

those feelings you're having though seem kinda serious. hope there's nothing going on outside of the scientific stuff.

Like I said I bought a therapy light and started using it. Fingers crossed that it works.
