And now my electronic signature is attached to an offer letter showing a lower pay rate.

Is there anything I can do to prove that the new rate was not what I signed and agreed to?

Also, I'm very disturbed that this can be done with no way of someone providing that the rate was charged unless I take a screen shot of the initial offer letter and offer rate.

Notify them. Worst that can happen is they say no. Best case they make an adjustment.

Get a lawyer, delete Facebook, hit the gym.

picture's beforehand of the previous pay-range. it's the only proof.
other option is to not accept the offer they screwed us.

Did you download a copy of the offer letter they first sent you? That one wouldn't be changed.

If not, then you really should have. Having a copy of everything is also important for you.

That's why both parties have a signed copy of anything.

I saved the adobe link but when I clicked on it this morning, it said the link was expired. I contacted HR and now the link is working but it shows my digital signature on an offer letter with a lower pay rate. There is no way for me to prove what I'm saying is true.

If you have no evidence, you're gonna have trouble fixing this.

But perhaps you can word your email as: "I believe there was a mistake in the offer on this contract. Either I misread the amount or it was changed after I had digitally signed it. Regardless, I would like to negotiate for <insert original amount here> as that is the amount I had in mind at signing."

Sounds very strange. A copy of what you signed should have been automatically generated and emailed to you.

The most disturbing and hurtful aspect of this is, I moved from one state to this one with the expectation of earning more and now I'm getting the same as the state I was in before.

I feel so defeated and hopeless.

And let me guess, the salary wasnt discussed in an actual e-mail either? Nor did they send an email confirming the pay rate before sending the document? It just sounds so unusual.

That is some shady stuff. How did you notice? Have you asked them about it?

If they act like nothing happened you could try reporting them to your State department of labor. They might conduct an investigation and uncover it. What they did will leave a trail in their system.

Yeah, that's not how adobe signed documents work. If it is electronically signed then the document can't be edited anymore without removing the sigs. If anything they changed it before they gave it to you and you weren't paying attention.

This is why i print everything. No digital for me. Havent been screwed over but still dont trust anyone.

But they could edit it and re-upload into the system. Im a recruiter and I believe its possible to do so depending on what ATS theyre using.

It would leave a digital trail though. Which is why I think he should report it.

That's pretty fucked up, I'd probably try to find some legal advice some how.

At the very least, I think you need to respond to HR directly and explicitly point out that the pay rate in the document you received is different from the one in the original document. Don't say there's a possibility. Don't say you may have misread. Stated definitively and force HR to tell you either no, it isn't, or claim it was mistake and fix it. Either way you need a paper trail that either has an admission of guilt or a full denial of culpability.

I always save important documents in my cloud storage as soon as I get them, but I didn't even think of that being a reason to do so.

Not with the signature intact, once signed it becomes read only, forcing it back into edit mode will remove signatures.

That signature wouldn't have TC's ID though.

Start some shit. Contact the person that made the initial offer. Call hr and tell them you aren't doing any work for them until this is fixed. Threaten legal action and tell them that you moved specifically for the rate you were offered.

I transferred internally once as a level 2 manager to a new location. All the details and such were discussed before hand, but when the official acceptance came in it was for level 1 which is a lower pay grade. Brought it up and got it fixed before agreeing to anything. But just shows you have to cover your ass and look out for this shit all the time.

Do you have any friends who are lawyers? Someone who could write a letter on letterhead? Companies dont like hearing from lawyers.

Besides your state labor board, you could also try a consumer advocate, such as at your local TV station or newspaper. They jump all over stories like this.

do you have audit history for that doc? or are they just sending you the PDF copy

either way, illegal as fuck but you might also be fucked. ask the person who sent it for details like hey, the amount i originally signed for was X, but the countersigned copy you just sent me was for Y.

I contacted HR and tried to speak with the person who made me the initial offer. I was told he is in a meeting and would call me back. That was before I made this topic.

Also, this is a small new company. They are not that organized but I am extremely disappointed that a job could do this to a person and there is near nothing they can do to try and solve this issue without having to report them.

Also, the HR receptionist told me that I would need to speak with the boss of the person who made me the offer to request to negotiate the pay rate. That person is out of the office till Monday.

So later this even I received a telephone call from the HR manager and was told indirectly that I am lying but was offered a review of my pay in two weeks. In addition, this HR manager had the nerve to tell me, "I understand you believe that you're worth more". I had to politely request that he review my resume and speak with my job references to see that the company is getting quite a deal to have my services at that salary.

Needless to say, I am going to wait the two weeks for the review but I have already started looking for another job.

The messed up thing is, last week I turned down a job offering more because it was an hour from where I live. I am so tempted to call them back on Monday to see if the offer is still available. If it is, you can bet your ass that I will be taking screen shots of that offer letter because I intend to never be disrespected or taken advantage of like this, ever again.

Next time make it email you your copy. Always get your copy.

That is bizarre and sketchy if they really did change the amount in the offer letter.

If you really feel this way then unless you click with your boss then you'll probably want to start looking for another job. Otherwise you'll just feel bitter about the whole thing the entire time you work there.

How large is the difference from what was in the original offer? I'm in no way implying any difference is acceptable, just curious.

Just produce a copy of the original offer. Should be an easy fix.

I don't quite understand why you went in the direction of asking the HR manager to review your resume. If you know you signed an offer letter at a higher salary level, stick to your guns. Don't ask them to review the incorrect salary that they've given you, have them correct it.

Was the exact figure ever discussed with anyone? And did you speak to the person who made you the offer? You said that they were due too call you back. And what has your manager said about all of this? Have you gone back to HR to see if there's an audit trail, which might show any changes being made? And have you asked if there's any way this could have happened accidentally? As in, are there mechanisms in place to allow it to happen.

Also I don't know how electronic signatures work, but will it not show when you signed the document? If you look at that, does it have the date/time that you actually signed it? If it shows another date, then you've got something to work with.

I know my value and I am simply going to remain quite, find a new job and put this trash company and experience behind me.

It sounds like the companys fucked by what youre saying with their HR department. If you have a real career, just go somewhere else asap.

Feel like you probably should have confirmed that you weren't just mistaken prior to bringing this to HR and whatnot.
