idk if I can get behind a spooky mystery-fantasy-horror vn involving a rich family with a weird grandpa, their run-down mansion rumored to have a witch in it, a specific rose that "disappears" from the garden as an early minor plot point, good music, blurry backgrounds, and (umineko spoilers) possible gendery stuff, family that's a bit too close, two sus maids, and I suspect time travel/loops and murder but not yet

anyway in a weird reversal of fate wifebolo is the one talking me into a favorite game this time

I got a bunch of trigger warning type info from Wifebolo ahead of time, only thing I wouldn't have guessed was there's some sorta trans and/or intersex something in there somewhere, and not everybody is great about it

Playing the fancy switch version I guess.

Observations so far:
-The art seems pretty good, but not to my personal taste. I'm interested to see how they draw male characters who aren't Mell. For comparison.
-There was a very obvious open secret passage in the library scene, didn't get acknowledged tho?
-The first scene with Mell and Nellie was real cute for about five seconds before it became ~foreshadowing~
-What is going on with the parents? Dad's away a lot, Mell mentioned not being able to talk to his mom about stuff, neither has a sprite or has appeared enough to really merit one which seems odd.
-If maid-chan and her dad were beggars....was the dad the one that Mell gave alms to a couple times?
-The story of the girl in the room seems important but doesn't quite add up yet. The "witch's blood" killed her, not the witch herself? What was the relation of the man? Feel like we're gonna get some curveballs there but haven't figured out what.
-Very interested in Maid-chan.
-Also interested in the 2nd person intro. "You" is a character I guess?
-"I'd like to reverse time and try that again" seems like a hint
-Early guesses: white hair-chan is out for blood or worse, but that doesn't mean she isn't catching feelings. Nellie and white hair-chan seem unlikely to coexist much longer, but one of them shanking the other seems a bit too obvious?
-Seems ODD that white hair-chan gave a name ending in -ell.....

ace attorney primarily, but she's workin on umineko and slarpg a bit and kinda picked up f/go from me as well

Got like two seconds into door two, decided to leave it for not-right-before-bed.

That went remarkably poorly, geez! I actually expected some of the fallout to be a bit darker than it went, but I won't complain about that >_> Everybody's alive! For now! Forceful hair cutting is a bit tough for me anyway. I feel like Mell might've been driven to fight yandere with yandere, but we may or may not ever know. Seems possibly significant that he never rounded the corner during the last convo, but maybe that's just my When They Cry instincts kicking in. Do wish we could've seen the conclusion though! I'm listening to Foundation by Asimov and it's doing a similar thing of doing timeskips before the climax is fully resolved, can't decide if I love it or hate it.

Still increasingly curious about The Maid and the whole framing scenario of You coming to the mansion. I suspect I will not greatly enjoy cannibal werewolf man or whatever, but it seems we're likely to get several of these so maybe it won't go on too long. Hehe.
