Because this will do very little to stop kids from seeing porn while being inconvenient for adults while putting their info at even more risk.

Kids just gonna steal/borrow Ids, use their parents account, other workarounds, non US based sites, VPNs or get their porn from Twitter, deviantart, google images etc.

Trying to stop teens from accessing porn is as futile as the prohibition was.

It's almost overwhelming how much freedom the Republicans are thrusting onto the people

VPNs exist and trusting a porn company with your ID sounds like such a bad idea.

You need to present your government ID. It isn't the same thing at all.

On top of that the site can't store that information, so you'll have to reverify on every visit. And it covers every site where 33%+ of content could be considered pornographic, so it could even affect sites like reddit and search engines.

Looks like they do require a government ID plus proof of a permanent address. If we require this for gambling (and online tobacco/alcohol sales), not sure why its a big deal to apply it to porn as well.
