Simon ends the series off as god of the universe. The antispiral states we leave it to your hands then and when Simon goes back to earth, he states he can control the fabric of reality if he wants too with his new understanding of spiral energy. Even creating life or death. But he doesnt want to abuse his power and thats why he doesnt revive anyone although he could with just a mere fraction of his power. Change supreme commander to god of the universe and money to infinite.

-This is why Simon is always questioned as top anime character of all time in powerscaling.

Him and Zeno from dbz are essentially the same in power concept.

I hadn't thought it out but it makes sense. Simon's fighting spirit literally rewrites the fabric of space time, destiny, godhood, etc.

TTGL is what Evangelion failed to be

I looked into it elsewhere it out to remind myself of the story and it checks out. Simon merges with every version of himself in the multiverse and combines their spiral power, that's how he defeats the "god" of the universe. He still has that power when he goes back to earth.

Maybe but remember TTGL isn't based in any kind of conceivable logic. It's like they took the meme about winning with the power of friendship to the next level and made it a godpower.

Listened to this on a long drive. Normally I dislike these excessively long video essays but man, this show means everything to this guy. Really hit deep.

Isn't that why spiral power was considered too dangerous? Technically his power can grow infinitely so they tried to seal it off. Way too dangerous in the wrong hands

Yeah, it's weird. I'm not really that into anime though I've watched quite a few over the years. I especially couldn't care less about mecha anime even though I've tried to get into the various Gundam series and Evangelion.
Yet TTGL is the one anime I find myself coming back to every few years. I just have to rewatch it. It's everything that's hilarious and terrible about shonen anime, but for some reason it's just sooooo fucking good.

Does he really gain extra power after the final battle? He was already godlike during the battle.

It somehow takes every trope and amplifies it by 1000 and then makes it funny and wonderful in the process. The soundtrack is my favourite of any anime ever.
