So I could play some Mario party with friends, but now its not automatically connecting to my ps4 when I press the home button. Is that something I can expect after every single time I connect it to the computer?

Did you connect it via bluetooth? If so, yes.

If you connected it via cable, it shouldn't happen often. I had that only happen a handful of times out of years of doing so, and usually came from just disconnecting it at the wrong time.

Yes, it can only pair to one device at a time. Quickest way to re-pair it to the PS4 is to plug it in via USB while the console's on, which will immediately pair it with the PS4 (though it's also possible to pair it via the menu, if you have another way to control the PS4); there isn't really any shortcut when pairing it to the PC again.

yeah it was Bluetooth. Kind of annoying. Connecting it via usb to the ps4 starts charging; the light bar turns orange, but pressing to power button on the controller makes the light bar flash white, as if its searching for a connection. Guess I need to use a toothpick to reset and re-pair it.

You don't need to do this; just hold Home and Share for 5 seconds while the controller is off and it'll go into pairing mode. Pairing it to the PS4 is even easier; just plug it in via a USB cable while the console is on and it'll be paired to the PS4 again.

Yes because it can only be synced to one device at a time. Same situation with the Switch Pro controller. You'll have to turn Bluetooth off on your PC (or unpair the controller) and then resync it to the PS4 by plugging the controller in.

its plugged in to the ps4 and charging as normal, but doesnt connect. When I press the PS button, it enters pairing mode instead of automatically connecting. Doesnt matter if I click the PS button while charging or after taking it out

DS4Windows. Download that, and all your problems will be solved, pretty much. It's what I used for ages; and still use it/the DS5 version on the few times a game doesn't auto-pick up m DS5 controller.

Weird. I've never had this issue; I've often used my DS4 with my PC (wirelessly) and whenever I've plugged it into the PS4, it's gone back to paired with the PS4. I remember the same thing happening with DS3s and the PS3 for that matter too.

You can just buy a PC only ds4. I'd imagine the prices have come down since current gen is going 2 years now? I also saw dualsense get price reduction recently,

yeah I have an 8bitdo pro and use that for PC, only reason I connected the ds4 was cuz I had guests over and we wanted to play some multiplayer games. Im about to go grab a toothpick but this has convinced me to just buy a second 8bitdo for when friends come over. Gives me an excuse to buy their Pro 2, at least.

How's the dead zone on those things? Does your character respond at a slight tilt of the stick? I'm planning to get the ultimate because of the Xbox layout and back buttons.

Its pretty normal, I havent yet played games the require very finicky controls. But you can tweak them to your liking, map the buttons however you want, increase/decrease sensitivity, deadzones, etc.
I dont really have many others to compare it to, but the 8bitdo is really good quality.

I think my ps4 controller might just be out of charge. Gonna charge it for a bit and try again later.
