I'm vaguely familiar with him and Terra's relationship just from catching some of the Teen Titans show, but they skipped the part where he was sexually abusing a fourteen-year-old girl.

Is that a touchstone of the character or something that occurred in that particular comic? Since there's a trillion continuities.

It happened in the main continuity that got rebooted 10 years ago....which was kinda reinstated later on. So it should still be canon IIRC

Not as many as many often think. At least not with the main universe

Golden age began in the late 30s. In the 50s they shifted from the golden age universe to silver age universe. But the golden age universe still existed, the stories just spent most time in the new universe. This technically wasn't a reboot. The 2 universes often met each other

This continuity lasted until 1985. A reboot began the Post Crisis continuity. And that lasted until 2011. When the New 52 continuity began, which is still what we are in today

DC has only really had 3 continuities in the main universe, each has lasted a long time.

The judas contract still still happened regardless along with every other major story in DC. This particularly aspect of it though as with all comic material thats not retconned is totally and completely just ignored.

The Judas Contract happened in the New Teen Titans series in the early 80's. That was part of the main universe at the time. Even though that ain't the main universe anymore, you can consider the hallmark events for each character to have happened (ie. Bane breaking Batman).

Judas Contract is THE biggest Death stroke story in the main DC universe. Even with all the shifting of the universes and the like it tends to return to continuity when the dust settles.

The actions of the story haven't ages well and yes Slade took advantage of a damaged teenager and regardless of her mental state he did have relations with her. But well he is a bad guy.

I've read that era of New Teen Titans and I could swear she's about 13 to 15 in that era. It's been a year or 2 but that's what my gut says.

Her gravestone says she was born in 1968 and died in 1984, making her sixteen.

Basically, yes. It's what happened to Superman when all of his history merged.

In 2016, the universe got rejigged again. I think it's more of a retooling than a reboot. But things feel more traditional ie. more like the post-Crisis universe. That era was called Rebirth and it began when the remaining old New 52 series all terminated at issue 52, and the one shot issue DC Universe Rebirth came out. That one issue was basically a mini Flashpoint event that set the current universe into motion.

And now in the last year or 2, it might have got rejigged again with Death Metal and Dark Crisis. I don't follow as closely as I used to.

Ew DC why you do this

From what I remember new 52 was a crappy era of comics, but then Rebirth was "the good one" and I saw a couple of stills that I liked so I think that's true. That was a whopping 6 years ago so I don't know what DC has done since Rebirth. That's as long as it was between new 52 and rebirth

All I remember is apparently they included the Watchmen/Dr Manhattan in the DC fold which I thought was somewhat intriguing considering they seemed like a near direct dark parody/deconstruction of JSA

It wasn't a total reboot but around 2016 was the rebirth relaunch which undid a lot of the New 52 changes and returned most things to the pre-new 52 state with a few new characters making the cut.

It was less a reboot and more a return to the post crisis continuity with a few new52 elements kept in here and there.

It's one if the biggest Teen Titans stories and it is the biggest Deathstroke stories. Slade raping an underage Terra has been a cornerstone of his history throughout out most of DC's continuity.

A couple years back, tired off having their marketable cool mercenary being a child rapist they retconned Judas Contract to have Slade explicitly not have sex with her, but that's a relatively new change. For the vast majority of his existence, dude was absolutely a rapist.

When reading about it, it seems like he still sexually manipulated her, he just didn't actually have sex with her. Plus he still kissed her.
