I love a Chinese takeaway but do not care for the food in China.

I'm a basic bitch. Every time Ive tried authentic Chinese food it's either seared off my tongue or smelled too pungent to swallow.

Authentic mapo tofu is worth the pain, though, so I fuck with that.

Other than that I prefer the Westernized stuff. <_<

I pretty much prefer the "westernized" version of most foods.

I've never had authentic Chinese food. At least I don't think so. I've only had it from that one Chinese food place that is run by a Chinese person, you know the place. But I'm pretty sure it's not "authentic". I also had Panda Express one time.

i prefer peranakan chinese dish.

I get cravings for american chinese every now and then but authentic chinese is amazing

I dont know of any authentic Chinese places around here, so Ive only ever had the western stuff. I like it though.

Peking duck is the most popular, but there are literally thousands of dishes that are not made properly outside of China. Like most foods in the world really.

Western the 5 or so times a year I indulge in that insanely sweet, sweet and sour is amazing.

Growing up eating asian food almost all of my life, I always go for authentic. I'm not a picky eater, so hence I always go for the authentic food, especially when I'm out on trips. It's why I get annoyed with one of my white friends who always tries to eat at an American restaurant when we had our south east asian tour. Totally missing out.

As far as I know authentic chinese food is chicken fetus and scorpions so yea gimme that orange chicky

"authentic Chinese food" doesn't make any sense. China is a huge country and different areas have completely different cuisines.

I think i only had authentic when I visited China almost 20 years ago. I can't remember what it tasted like. I probably prefer what I am used to all my life though

I've never been to, nor do I have any interest in visiting China. So unless there is somewhere else to get authentic Chinese food, I'll probably never have it.

It's a shame Cantonese food never took off in the states. The BBQ and dim sum is way better than the Westernized stuff.

I have a lot of authentic Chinese right here on the Queens border. Overpriced but the Cantonese one really stands out.

I much prefer the down and dirty western Chinese food. Sometimes you just have to go into Manhattan and descend into the Wo-Hop dungeon.

Yes

I love me some good shumai, particularly the ones with shrimp and pork. Taro puff dumplings are also amazing.

Westernized Chinese food has too much sugar in it. Prefer me some real Chinese food, though that ranges a lot due to all different regions.

Trying to find authentic szechuan cooking in Edmonton, AB is almost impossible.
They've dumbed the spice level down to accommodate "western taste" and it sucks.

My family is from the south, I grew up on spice. Obliterate my mouth with szechuan pepper.

I love both but I have to say I prefer authentic because there are so many different interesting and delicious dishes from different regions of China and compared to the westernized dishes, it is less sweet.

We took their food and made it better.

General Tso > duck tongue dumplings or whatever.

I think authentic is sometimes way better. But that comes with plenty of caveats.

Overall, Westernized is definitely better for what I'd like in a meal. Also much more readily available.

Congee is perfect for this type of weather.

I feel like westernised chinese food is easy enough to define (i.e. the usual stuff you get in a chinese takeaway restaurant) whereas "authentic" chinese food literally just means any food from china which is a landmass 14 times the size of Texas.

I credit the americanized china buffet with contributing a not insignificant amount to my problem with food. That being said, I still love that kind of "chinese" food. I want to make it clear though, I cannot stand the CCP cuisine.

I love westernized but nothing beats authentic Chinese food for me. Especially Chinese fried rice, char siu, and congee are freakin delicious
