what's not to like? you never have to change a battery. Wonder why the swiss watch brands haven't embraced this technology

it doesn't have to be in sunlight all the time. Iirc it has a 6 mo. power reserve.

you have to change the battery eventually. They last 10-20 years and the battery has a tiny capacitor on it.

From a user/wearer standpoint, no.

Lightweight been getting into watches this year. Of the solar variants was a G-Shock GST-B100, and GA-B2100, and then I got a Citizen SST Eco-Drive.

Honestly, the GA-B2100 has been everything I need in a watch without needing a smart watch. If the GBD-200 came with solar, that's probably going to be ever closer to narrowing the gap. Unfortunately, this pulls me out of the indulgences of mechanical watches, analog watches in general, and just the sense of variety and romanticism. I think the reality is that I'm just not all that interested in becoming a collector, and want a watch to benefit me in everyday life. It's been very fascinating to see Casio not fold to the smartwatch trend and incrementally taking the long way around to creating alternative solutions.

Not to stan too hard, but some designs also have a power-saving mode.
