HBO Max will be changing it name sometime in 2023 and merging with Discovery Plus, because of the crazy new owners of HBO . A bunch of projects have been canceled. George RR Martin says several projects for the future involving the GoT universe, are now in doubt because of this HBO shakeup

If HBO had not been bought out, there was going to be a bunch of future spinoff. One was going to be about Jon Snow maybe in the years after Game of Thrones ends

He is never going to finish the books. Even if he manages to get this next one out, he has a whole other book he has to do and it will take him another 15 years or something

That's about Aegon V Targaryen (grandfather of the mad king) and Duncan the Tall, the commander of his kingsguard. It takes place about 100 years before GoT.

Despite game of thrones horrible last season, house of the dragon was one of the most popular shows of the year. Whatever changes are happening at hbo, they should know not to fuck with this brand

Wasn't there a supernatural race that used to be all over the continent, and the humans pushed them back to remote places? Imagine the early days of ancient humans interacting with that race

That article is making a lot of speculation based off a pretty simple quote in his blog post

Some of those are moving faster than others, as is always the case with development, Martin wrote. None have been greenlit yet, though we are hoping maybe soon. A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. You can take something off the shelf as easily as you can put it on the shelf. All the changes at HBO Max have impacted us, certainly.

THIS. I honestly don't think he wants to finish the books. If he finishes the books then everyone has closure and moves on. I think he wants to die with the series ending on a cliffhanger, then fans will endlessly debate for decades about what the "true ending" should have been.

They' might be worried about the drop off from after he either finishes or dies. Either that or he hasn't finished writing for them too.

So far we only have 1 spinoff, but it was a huge success.

He doesnt even know what the ending is, Im sure of it or if he does know what it is, he doesnt know how to get there

They cant worry about that, they know already the brand will continue after martin. Get competent writers and they should be fine

Honestly, I can't even blame Martin for not writing anything. Like the show after the books ran out was pretty much just trying to bring all these loose ends together so the show could end and nobody liked it. And there's even more stuff in the books to deal with than there was in the show, and a lot of people who are way farther away doing their own stuff. It's an even larger ask to try to tie all those loose ends.

I can't really blame GRMM for just wanting to stall out the books forever.
