i still haven't played the Yuffie stuff. i loved FF7R when it came out. i got a ps5 so i thought id play it again in glorious 60fps or whatever, but quickly lost interest

I only have the PS4 version but I wouldn't mind having it portable instead, so i'll find out.

It's not really that great imo. Fort Condor is interesting, and would be cool to see fleshed out in the next game. It's still kind of fun, but it feels like a demo for a party member, and you can get most of it just from videos.

I didn't really get to play it but from what I saw Yuffie looks super fun. Can do close-combat and ranged, has better aerial combat than the other characters, and she can do Chrono Trigger-esque dual techs with her partner. She's so good she's probably gonna get nerfed so she's more specialized in one thing in Rebirth, lol.

I found it fun as fuck and a good addition to the story. Also some surprises in It too which I wont spoil.

I want to play it again but it's still too expensive to double dip

Well I will give it credit - it's a really, really good port. Runs at a locked 120fps at max settings. Wish it supported 16:10 so unfortunately I have to do 2560x1440 with letterboxing. Not the end of the world.

Gets about 40fps with max settings on Steam Deck. Will try with FSR.

Its worth $70 but given its age now I get being reluctant. $40 is a steal.

I'm just about to beat it myself. I have my nitpicks here and there but no deal breakers. Game is fucking awesome.

Right now, I'm working on wrapping up my Hard Mode playthrough for the main game. I want to get the platinum trophy. I am playing the game on my PS5 this time around, and have already purchased the Intergrade DLC, so I intend to see what the episode is like as soon as I finish getting the platinum for the main content.

It really is stellar. I had so many high hopes for FFXV before it came out and was disappointed in the game at the end of the day. FFVIIR, in some ways, felt like the kind of ARPG gameplay that I wanted in FFXV.

Yeah, the game isn't just an extension of FF7, it's more of an improvement of what they were going for in FFXV. It's like they finally perfected how to properly do action combat with elements of the ATB system.

They absolutely nailed the combat system. It's a perfect blend of the original ATB system and an action game. Still feels 100% like classic Final Fantasy while also being modern.

Yeah I remember people bitching about how it's going to be exactly like KH or FF15 before the game even came out.

Thinking about getting this, but I also plan to play FFXV sometime in the near future. Would I find FFXV's combat to be awful and disappointing if I played FF7R first?

Maybe? Like, the fighting is alright, and the warping is fun, but there's some weird parts to it. You can't control other party members, and all magic has friendly fire.
