yeah, only thing i enjoyed were the names and remembering the game witcher 3. Having me go is that supposed to be who i think it is was alot more fun than i care to admit.

every addition to the group was narrated with 1 became 2, 2 became 3, 3 became 4 count chalkula ad. Like it was dumbed way down to a level where i thought why do that and sprinkle details that needed me to go outside the series and look up details.

I just watched the first episode this morning. It was decent, but it was a LOT of names and setup for what will only be 4 episodes. I will see how I feel after finishing, as I can't give a strong opinion one way or the other at this point.

It seems that the critical reviews just state that it lacks the charm of the main series. However, it is getting review bombed for too much diversity and also because of Cavill's falling out with the show (and everyone blames the show). So the low audience scores are kinda unfair.

I feel like Netflix fundamentally misses the point of what has made The Witcher as a concept so fascinating. It seems to me like they just want to write their own generic fantasy story and use the IP to get it out, which is becoming mor and more the case for adaptations of nerdy stuff.

Giving the writing jobs to people who didn't like The Witcher didn't help.

And yeah, that's the common thing these days. Get the IP, do your own thing.

The problem is that the source material is garbage honestly. The games were far more interesting than the books. The concepts are all very cool, the lore is cool, the world is amazing, but the actual narrative is just not very good.

Its a mess, the writing is all over the place, a lot of the supporting casting was very questionable, and a lot of the set/costume design is just BAD, especially in the first season. The way the plot bounces through past and future events without any distinction doesnt help matters.
