I picked some Tarot Cards and I picked the Lightning Goddess cause she be CUTE!

I know nothing about the series except a bunch of the people who made this game made Final Fantasy Tactics which is one of my favorite games of all time... so there!

I've barely started and already my sister is all like, "We can't beat him!"

At least I think I'm Denam. LOL

Have fun. Early game tips get rune fencers are real strong early on. With instill element of their type and meditate, they can spam finishers all day and backup heal. Item healing is far stronger than clerics, so getting a hawkman beastmaster with lobber to toss around healing items can make the harder fights more bearable. Terror Knight with a weapon that can cause breach like claymore, or zweihander can use Fearful Impact to guarantee breach and fear on an enemy. Great for a can opener, but bosses cant be feared. This does also apply for any class with an ability that says next attack has 100% accuracy, it will apply the weapon debuff 100% as well.

Seems there is political intrigue right off the hop. We are gonna try to kill Lanselot to cause the "Bakram" to falter, which will allow one nation to maybe take control of the area/country?

Catiua is all negative about it and just like, "We die regardless of what we do lolz"

Anyways, seems we randomly attacked this Lanselot, but there are TWO Lanselot's? This guy is a mercenary, not a member of the Dark Knights.

Oh wow, the entire surviving members of the party gain experience, not the individuals who kill others or who take actions?

That definitely rewards slower, less aggressive play.

We have rescued Duke Ronwey, because we are young and impressionable, and I'm sure the Duke is a wonderful upstanding man with no desire to backstab us. >_>

Nice to see you give this a shot! I remember everything important about the main story from playing it eons ago somehow, but I know the PSP and well this new edition added newer story stuff. So yeah gots me there other than watching some recent reviews and stuff. Go on and continue to fight the good fight (?) Snoop!

I didn't like the Class/Job system in this game because you have to wait until latter in the game to get more Jobs unlocked instead of like it is in FFT where all you need is Wizard at Level 3 to open up Time Mage, for example. You have to wait far too long into the game to unlock more of the fun classes in the game, and I don't think it was like that in the original version of the games.

Do skills and spells level up through use like in FFT?

Not really. Skills will level up on their own as a result of being in whatever class you're in at the time. When you change class, your level is constant so there's minimal point to have a unit being multiple jobs over their lifespan.

Also to mention spells give weapon exp, and higher weapon skill will increase spell damage.

And you will have to buy the higher tier spells. The first version of the non missile spells will only be single target, but the level 2 and above versions will be AoE.

To make that happen go chaos or neutral route. You will know when to make that choice. Lol. I dislike both Vyce and Catuia. Denam.........well let's just say he's a weanie.

When I played I liked Denam and Kachua, I know Kachua gets disinterested. Vice/Vyce is always a hot head asshole even if you side with him he has pretty much the same reaction just spun a little bit, my knowledge is all the PSX version but yeah it amused me how he'd be like that no matter what, the paths were still different though even if he had the same reaction

I almost feel like maybe I could handle a Ogre Battle like game again I never played 64 for a lot, but I was playing it on my Wii U actually for awhile after being such a huge fan of the one on the SNES. I did have it for the 64 originally but returned it because I had more snap decisions back then.

Stick with the game, but now seeing some ppl talk about it, it's like archers are the worst, now, no they are ok......I just don't know where to begin again hah I was never 'THAT' into Tactics Ogre and some people solve this and make the most amazing optimal builds and it amazes me how much effort people can put into the game.

Likely to play more today!

i played Tactics Ogre: LUCT back in the day, and to this day i still consider it the best TRPG ever made, bar none. love all the political intrigue and the setting overall, and i thought the gameplay was way funner than FFT, mostly because i liked the class progression better and i liked how many more units you could field than in FFT. 5 units is too few for a tactics game IMO.

i would be interested to see how you feel about the game after you've played it, and how you would rank it with other TRPGs. of course, i dunno how much different Reborn is from the original release.

I'm just entering the Qadriga Fortress fight now. Had to do a couple training fights to level up my characters.

That was a bit of a tougher fight but whatever we fucked up that necromancer and he ran away.

Now we are gonna get a non-aggression pact with the Dark Knights so we can fight one group of assholes before we then turn on the Dark Knights?

Political alliance out of necessity for a small nation. Bonus points for asking the kids with a grudge against the dark knights for killing their parents to ask for peace.

Pretty much even the back story for the Zenobians proves there are no good guys in the whole saga. A lot like real life, everyone has a motive.

Finished up the Golborza Plains. So far the game seems kinda rudimentary in comparison to FFT, but I assume as I continue onward it will get more complex.

Seems Dark Knight Lanselot and the Dark Knights will remain neutral as we deal with the Galgastani. He kinda laughed about it and was like, "You think you're gonna defeat them without us?" Nah bitch, we're just trying to deal with our own shit rather than getting you involved. We want peace, not routing our enemy.

Meanwhile Catiua mentions how we know Lanselot and he acknowledges that they acted on false rumor and killed people for no reason. He did bow an apologize for basically you know, murdering our parents and whatnot. We kinda just didn't respond and quickly left.

Basically if these Walister people who were in labor camps will not agree to take up arms against the Golgastani, we are to murder them all under the guise of it being the Golgastoni to get the "moral imperative" to turn everyone against the Golgastani and thus have a better chance at war. It will unite the Walister.

it's so mind-bending that choosing to participate in the massacre is considered the "Lawful" route.

I get the impression that the folks behind this 27 year old game don't place a lot of value in obeying the law. It's awesome and I literally forgot about it until I started playing recently.

well, i think technically it's actually the opposite, you are following the "law" by participating in the massacre, because all the "law" is in a setting like this is what the lord commands. being "chaotic" is going against the authority. i think the way it is framed is very thought provoking.

Law and Chaos have nothing to do with good and evil. Law is order and following the orders of your liege lord is paramount. Chaos is chaos, do whatever you feel is right and screw the rules.

They don't exist in a vacuum. Denam, if you choose the lawful path, is absolutely a monster and a war criminal who deserves a noose.

And that changes nothing with how Law and Chaos works. Neither are good nor evil. They are the embodiment of order and chaos. One which obeys the law without regard to anything else and the other to do whatever their hearts desire.

Anyways, no he is not. He in fact is a good man. If you actually play the path, he doesnt participate in the murder, he stands by and watches and learns to regret it very much. He grows from it and know he can do nothing to repent for it, but he will end the war as fast as possible. Unite the people to prevent further blood wars. This one choice allows him to bond with Jeunan, another who has committed great sins when ordered to, but learns from it and tries to do good with the rest of his life.

Thats because law at its absolute worst is awful. Its literally consequentialism. He agrees with Leonard and Ronways actions because its for the greater good.

Is there any reason to keep older equipment around? Is it useful for crafting? So far I've kept some around but I've also been selling SOME of it to bankroll the new equipment I can purchase.

Man the more I think about it, the stupider I feel. I am sorry, covid brain is hitting me hard. Forgot about so many guests other than Vyce who loves to dive headfirst to death. Arycelle tended to stay far enough away for me to stay alive.

I did save her thankfully. It allowed me to switch out my other Archer into a different class.
