I know it happened in the past and I know it will happen in the future, but if they ever do a show about a Fire Nation Avatar, it's gonna feel weird. Because of the whole war from the original show

It is just hard to picture a Fire based Avatar

I think one of the prevailing elements of the story is that the element of fire isn't evil, it just happened to be used in an evil way by an evil dictator.

A fire nation avatar would be an awesome story imo.

I hope not.

I find it so absurd some expect people not responsible for an atrocity should feel compelled to apologize and atone for a crime they didn't commit.

Shyamalan swore he would not let the movie be bad. In an interview after the movie was announced, he said he was terrified of angering the fans, and of disappointing his Avatar fan kids

He said he would never let the movie be trash. I've always looked at him differently after that lie

Roku was a very prominent figure in the original series.

And the next fire avatar would be born at least 200 years after the war ended, I don't know how much they'd need to atone for.

I was just watching this clip of all the fire bending scenes, and it's weird how they rarely produce fire from their bodies like in the cartoon.

I don't see why a Fire Nation avatar would be any more problematic than any of the others. The fire avatars that have been introduced both seem like pretty good people. Roku is revered all over the world and tried his best to forestall the war. The other one, Sveto, was a bureaucrat and account that didn't do anything but unify and bring peace to the Fire Nation. So if the next fire avatar ends up being a mix between a civil servent and an international playboy that would be pretty interesting.

Because they can't in the movie. M Night Sharmadong thought it was unfair that they were the only ones who could make their element out of nothing. I think someone in the movie does do it, but it's treated as some extra-special amazing talent.

Because Shyamalan decided to take away the one defining feature for Fire Benders that made them unique amongst the other benders. They no longer bend their inner chi to produce flames, instead they needed to carry a source of fire around to bend with.

Szeto.

I googled Sveto to see which Avatar that was and that's instead the name of a small village most famous for being the site of a mass grave from WW2. <_<

Why would a Fire Avatar be weird? Roku was Aang's biggest advisor the whole series and we saw him plenty. Zuko also made up for a lot of the Fire Nations transgressions in the comics between TLA and Korra.

Bro this one change makes the entire Fire Nation make less sense in that world. How do they have any kind of advantage in terms of industry and locomotion if they can't even produce fire from within themselves?

The whole reason they could operate and construct their war machines is because they could provide the fuel and heat directly, lol

No? We literally see one in the first series, he's pretty important to the series lore and back story of the show's main conflict and we get a whole episode about his back story

Not at all. The rumored next series is about an Earthbender, and the Earth Empire went full ultranationalist warmonger state in Korra.

Plus, by the the time a firebender Avatar series came out, it'd probably be at least 20 years irl since the original Last Airbender series was released.

In the setting, some people can bend one of the four elements: earth, fire, air, and water. The Avatar is the only one who can bend all four.

They're reincarnations of the original bender that befriended and tethered himself to the immortal spirit of light and peace.

Also the Avatar is basically a fantasy Jesus. They are the holy messiah of that world. Every generation, they get reincarnated into one of the 4 nations. I think it's the same soul always. They die and then are born again. Kinda like Link in Zelda

What are they avatars of?

Serious question, haven't watched the show
The Avatar is basically the embodiment of all four elements, meant to represent the harmony between them. Essentially, the four elements are divided into four nations/cultures (Air, Earth, Water, and Fire), and they each have their own form of bending which corresponds to their element--Airbenders create and control wind, earthbenders move and shape earth, etc.

Only some people are born as benders, and benders cannot control more than one element. The only exception to this rule is the Avatar, who is born as part of a cycle and has the power to learn and master all four of the elements simultaneously.

The cycle tends to loop between the four nations. Aka, Aang is from the Air Nomads, Korra is from the water tribes, the next Avatar will presumably be from the Earth Nation, and then one will come from the Fire Nation.

It's a major plot point in the original series that the Fire Nation committed genocide against the Air nomads in order to try to break the Avatar cycle--if there's no Air nomads left, then there can be no Avatar born from their people. No Avatar means no opposition to the Fire Nation's global conquest.

However, they missed one, and he happened to be the Avatar already born, and that's essentially where the first series begins. Hence why the first series is called "The Last Airbender."
